This concludes this latest series (last 6 shots). Though I have tried to infuse humor and some political/social satire, the series has really been about "locations". Thus I dedicate this series to my friends and former colleagues, the location scouts of San Francisco. Whose efforts bring to us all, the wonderful places we see in motion pictures, television and magazines.

This concludes the series, that I call “Misunderstanding and it’s Consequences”. This I tried showing through: The deception of believing what we read or are told, being misunderstood ourselves by others, loneliness and the worry of not be being accepted or acknowledged. This in the hope that when any of us fall prey to these, we will know that we are not alone.

This will also be my last posting for a while, as I will be off flickr and possibly my computer for a month or so. I wish you all well. To my close contacts, let me say how much our “contact” has meant to me. Through sharing our vision of life, our comments and occasional e-mails, it has helped me through a trying time. I am very grateful! Thank you all.

The new cow came though the gate,
and her calf came after, a little late.
No longer willing to be led,
the calf went on ahead,
while she stood to look around
over the hills and lower ground

Misunderstood

Misunderstanding! Life is just full of it. However I will only bring up one example here, the cow. How often do we hear the words cow and bovine used to denote, laziness, stupidity and fatness among other derogatory terms. To my way of thinking this is all wrong. Maybe their importance doesn’t seem so much today in this age of plastic use, but in the past their contributions have helped build civilizations. I am reminded of the North American natives of the Great Plains and their associations with the Buffalo. They didn’t have contempt for them, they praised the Buffalo for what it provided them. So let me now in my way pay tribute to the “Cow” and all the “misunderstood".

Or at least that is what the calender says. Now we can start to think about more warmth and light.

Seeking Wisdom and Better World Leadership

Not my usual fair. It is just that I felt like expressing my thoughts. During my time indoors, I looked at a lot of photo streams on flickr and read a lot (mostly history, both ancient and recent). And I concluded two things. One this is a beautiful world and two that our world leaders never seem to make protecting it a priority. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful home, that we share and live in. A world filled with beauty and wondrous treasures. If there was thing I would ask and especially of our world leaders it is simply this, respect and love our home, for not only is it beautiful, but it is the only one we have.

I would like to thank pop-icon for the gift of the bronze statue he brought back from his adventure to India. And for the use of one of his temple shots, for the background in this illustration. Also I would like to thank my daughter Vera for the use of her menagerie .

Here is my attempt (humble may it be) in replicating an Edward S. Curtis portrait. Though I have seen original prints and which I might add are extraordinary, I have based my processing on the reproduction values of two books I have of his work. If you don't know of him or his incredible work, I encourage you to do a google search.
