Shot for the March edition (I think?) of RIDES Magazine.

Around 8 different layers per shot, lit with one SB600 placed in different areas of the frame and composited in PS.

Went for another D700 test shoot today, and I have to admit.. I fall more in love with it every time I use it. This particular shot was done with a Nikon 135mm f/2 lens shot wide open, and a Tiffen polarizing filter to darken the blacks and get rid of some of the reflections in the windshield. No strobes used since black cars usually act like mirrors with them.

Recently picked up a D700 a week or so ago, but haven't had any time to mess with it since it's been raining every day, but my gf was over a couple days ago and I made her go outside in the cold real quick so I can snap off a few shots =X Don't mind the poses.. she was freezing and so was I.

First one was done with the 135mm f/2 and second one with Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8. The yellow cast and flare was added in post since it was a completely overcast day.

So I got a new monitor..

Ever since I've been shooting photo's, I've been using a laptop to edit everything, and the colors and contrast on it are completely jacked up. I finally picked up a Dell U2410 and now I actually have an idea of how the photo's look like with different types of editing, leading me to be much more creative in post processing than I was before.

This is a shot I re-edited from a year ago.. original was all sorts of fail but this one is somewhat acceptable :)

Recently hired by a local fitness product manufacturer to shoot all their photo's being used on their product packaging. Look for them at Academy and other fitness stores!

Strobist: SB-24 in 40" shoot through umbrella @ 1/4th power camera right, bare sb-24 @ 1/8th power camera left.

One of the more expensive cars I've shot recently. Pretty much stock on the outside, just lots of engine mods. Rig suction cupped to the rear, used just 3 pieces this time so it was about 12 feet long.

Strobst: 1 SB-24 flash lit up different parts of the car and then layred them all together. This way I avoid having spill light on the ground. Full shoot available here

Haven't taken pics of my car in a while, always taking pics of other peoples cars. Got bored on a Friday night and went out to do some lightpainting. I did around 4 different angles @ 50 shots or so total, not too bad.

Recently just got some minor things done to it so I figured it was time :) I'll post the rest of the set later, just really happy the way this one came out.

Strobist: walked around the car with a softbox and stuck a light in it. Blended together 5 shots or so:

1. Ground
2. Headlight
3. Wheels
4. Lip
5. Body and windows

Layered them all together with layer masks and did some curve, level, and selective coloring adjustments.

Black cars are a pain in the butt to light, so with this recent shoot, I just stuck with natural lighting and shot around the golden hour. D700 + 105mm f/2 = hard to screw up lol.

Unfortunately I didn't have a polarizer that fit that lens so I just held one up in front of the lens from my Sigma 24-70mm lens.

Editing wise, this is pretty much straight out of Lightroom with increased contrast and watermarked in CS5.

Recently picked up a White Lighting X1600 strobe on ebay (my first non hotshoe strobe woot) and a White Lightning/Alien Bees white beauty dish. I went outside in my backyard for a quick test shot, this was at around 4PM with the sun barely peaking through the clouds.

I just wanted to see how dark I can make everything yet still have the person visible and I was pretty impressed at the power level considering it was super bright outside. Once the weather warms up a bit, I wanna hit up the beach and try the same style of lightning with the sun in the frame back lighting the person, it should look pretty neato's. Just gotta pick up that vagabond soon!

Strobist: WL X1600 strobe @ nearly full power with WL/AB white beauty dish (w/out diffuser) camera right. Triggered with Elinchrom's. Shot w/D700, Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 lens + circular polarizer.
