Day 234

2nd April - Good Friday 2010

We set off on Friday morning to my Mum and Dad's in Oxfordshire and after lunch we braved the weather and took Chap for a visit to the Oxford University Natural History Museum. He loved it, especially all the fossils - he called them all snails and stones lol. He loved running around amongst the dinosaurs and skeletons (see pic in my comments).

I couldn't decide on my favourite for the day, I loved my photo of choice because of the comedy factor and the colour but I do love the dinosaur spine in my comments. I can't work out how to upload them to appear in my comments without them showing on my main photostream so there is going to be a mass upload I'm afraid!!

I have tried to keep on top of comments on my iphone whilst I was away, but apologies if I've missed anyone and I'll get round to catching up with all your pics over the week.

A long night last night with Little Lady, she decided to wake up at 1.30am and not go back to sleep until 4am. I had to camp out on her nursery floor to enable any of us to get some sleep. I would put her in bed with me but I just don't get any sleep with her there :/

Anyway, I got a lie in this morning and I got up to see that I'd received my newest purchase in the post. Here is my amazing camera bracelet from a very talented lady on Folksy. I love it! Each of the cameras have been hand made in craft clay (fimo I think). Incredible :)

We had a very lazy morning, or correction, I did. P let me have a lie in this morning and he and Chap played in the garden. I woke up to the noise of Chap playing in his little car on the pavement outside our house (with P in tow - at 2.5 he's a bit young to be playing out on his own!).

This afternoon we drove through the Chew Valley to my good friend's birthday BBQ at Portishead. It was a lovely afternoon, Chap played with some other little children and I had a chance to catch up with some work friends. Her apartment is right by some lovely wild flower meadows and these teasles caught my eye :)

At last. Sorry. Been editting, cropping, deleting, cloning like mad on photoshop over the last few days and have barely had a chance to think about what photos to upload onto here!

Ok, so, whilst I love this shot it probably isn't my favourite but as I haven't made the final, final cut yet & the new 'Mr and Mrs P' haven't seen all the photos I don't feel that I can put any more on here just yet! But here is a sneaky peak ;)

The wedding shoot went really well and overall I've been really pleased :) I've had some issue with a little flaring from the chandelier in the Registry Office which is beyond my cloning and editting skills and I have no idea whether those pictures which would have otherwise been ok are ruined. Anyone with really good PS skills want a challenge???? LOL

I had a fantastic time so much so that I really want to shoot another wedding now! Hopefully Mr and Mrs P will be pleased with the shots when I finally get round to sharing them with them on their return from Honeymoon!

I've whittled the photos down from 1875 to approx 400 so far. So still have a fair way to go! This one has definitely made the cut, I have a B&W version too. I just love the detail on N's dress :).

I will share the rest when they're ready!

Phew. Work over. Spent the afternoon and evening packing for holiday, we're flying on Saturday morning from Gatwick. Looking forward to it. We're landing in Copenhagen and spending a couple of hours exploring there before heading onto the Ferry to Sweden to see my brother!

I saw these paper cake cases on the kitchen surface this afternoon, I must have left them out from when Chap and I made our 'space cakes' on Tues. I love the crispness of them.

Ok so our lawn needs a cut. We have lots of dandelions at the moment, I know they're weeds but I kind of like the yellow colour against the green grass ;)

Chap is still pox free so *touchwood* we seem to have avoided the Chicken Pox, he is still a little blotchy from his rash but the worst of it seems to have disappeared over night.

One day of work left before I am on holiday unti 11th May, looking forward to the break :)

Chap seems to be a little better today we went out this morning before the rain came to get some fresh air and he seems better for it :)

This is my brother-in-law J's camera, its called a Yashica-Mat and B, my sister in law thinks its called a 'twin lens' camera. You lift the lid and look down to see the picture. We think its from the late 1950s and it belonged to P's Grandad. It looks great and is still in working order and by all accounts takes some great photos! Anyone else know more about it?

We have guests this weekend, Chap's Auntie and Uncle who have driven all the way from Norfolk, but Chap is still very poorly. A high temperature and generally very unhappy :( This morning, we'd planned to go out for the day so Chap and I stayed at home whilst P took J & B out for a day trip to Wells.

When they got back P took over with Chap and I took J&B to the Book Barn near our house. It's immense in there, very overwhelming and quite scary actually. I've never found anything that I actually want or need in there but always seem to come out with something. Even after spending about 30 mins in the photography section I found nothing that interested me so found the kids section instead. Chap got a a 'first German words' book. Start 'em young that's what I say! ;)

I actually spent most of my time in there taking photos :)

Had a nice BBQ this evening once Chap had settled for the night.

I really couldn't decide which picture to choose for today's shot. I wasn't particularly enamoured with any of them to be honest but I thought this one and the few in my comments summed up the evening quite nicely! LOL

This evening Chap and I went to meet P from work so that I could take them to the Flicklgraphique exhibition to see my picture on the wall (along with all the amazing pictures there....). Predictably Chap was not interested in the pictures - which 2 year old would be! - but of course adored the Flickr coloured balloons and beach balls! He got so excited by them at one point that he was kicking them around and I feared the safety of the pictures! EEK! Balloons confiscated = tantrum.

Looking forward to the weekend, we've got some friends coming for dinner and drinks tomorrow night which will be nice :)

This evening was the launch night for the Flicklgraphique exhibition at the Photographique photo gallery in Bristol. My picture is the one of the tree and you can see it better here :)

I was a bit apprehensive about going along this evening as I have never met any of the Bristol Flickrites before. I needn't have worried, everyone was very friendly and accomodating. Thanks to Demosthien for all his hard work arranging the exhibition, it all looks brilliant!

The lighting levels were quite low so I didn't manage to get many photos this evening, especially with so many people there. You can see the rest of my set here. I'm taking P and chap to have a look tomorrow afternoon so I'll try an dget a few more photos then :)

If anyone is in Bristol over the next few days you should pop in and have a look :)

I'm having a really busy week at work which is taking its toll and I'm feeling really tired today. Tomorrow night I have the Launch night for the Flicklgraphique exhibition in Bristol and a nice weekend to look forward to, so I'll be pleased when I've finished work for the day tomorrow!

The weather wasn't so nice today so this afternoon after Chap's nap we played with his building blocks in the front room, we managed it for a while until he got bored and starting throwing them at the cat! Generally, he's being a good little boy at the moment (famous last words) even though his back teeth are coming through, until he's let loose on the megablocks that is...

I realised I hadn't taken my photo for the day whilst we were playing - so here's the result. Its a little grainy for my liking and I would have liked slightly better lighting but heyho.

Back to work today after the weekend, a busy but constructive day and I'm feeling tired now. My Mum is here looking after Chap as the childminder is on holiday so we went to look round the shops this afternoon which was nice as I managed to get some time to actually try some things on in the changing rooms!

When I went upstairs to get changed I noticed that the blinds were only half open and the sun was shining through making pretty shadows on the windowsill, couldn't resist taking a picture :)

It was my turn to get up first this morning with Chap, I had my lie-in yesterday and P had this morning. Chap and his cousins played nicely in the sandpit in P and N's garden before we headed out to the local park for fun in the sun with the kite.

On the way out I noticed these beautiful blossom trees that lined the street, shot with my 50mm lens again (what a surprise!) on a large aperture. I love the shallow DOF and the blossom bokeh in the background.

Headed back to Somerset after lunch and I even managed to fit in a swim before tea :)

A lovely sunny day, Chap and I went for a walk on Friday morning to the park and had ice lollies in the garden when we got back as a reward. He couldn't believe his luck! This is very similar to another shot I took last month but I couldn't resist the pink pegs in the sun and am in love with the peg and bush-keh in the back ground :)

Took my picture for next week's exhibition to the photo shop and gallery today ready to be picked up ready for hanging - exciting!

Hooray, it arrived!!! I've been so excited about this for a few weeks, well actually since I finally decided which pictures to include in the book :)
It's an amazing book, such wonderful pictures from all my fellow 365 community-ers, so inspiring.

I also picked up my framed print for the exhibition that starts next Thurs, so much photographic excitement in one day! What's a girl to do!?

Couldn't be bothered to set my tripod up so went for a 'hold out my arm and shoot' selfie, not the best pic in the world but I'm usually so critical of pictures of myself that I thought why not include a selfie.

Anyway, I love my book. Anyone who didn't have a chance to join in this time should definitely take up the offer next time. Love it. A HUGE Thanks to Suz (SuzorSooz) who spent so much time sorting it all out for us!

Took today off to spend with Chap as the Childminder is on holiday. We had a nice day playing in the garden and sorting the house after our weekend away. He is going through a great phase at the moment, really communicating well and he makes me laugh so much. Today he made friend with the little 6 year old down the road, he was calling for him over the fence in the garden and showing him his toy cars. The 6 year old was very tolerant of it, even though I could tell that he just wanted to be tearing off on his bike with his brother :P

It was just a quick shot yesterday, had a headache most of the afternoon and didn't feel much like playing :(

5th April 2010 - Easter Monday

A sunny morning, P and I managed to get a morning in town whilst Grandma babysat Chap. We both treated ourselves to some well needed new shoes...I went in for one pair and came back with 2 - eep!

Dad's garden is starting to bloom, I love Magnolia when they're like this. I think they might be my favourite spring flower alongside cherry blossom :)

Weighed in tonight, lost another 2lbs - half a pound off my first stone. Must keep going :D

4th April - Easter Sunday 2010

Today we went to the Easter Service at the church I used to go to when I was little and on the way back we did a little Easter Egg hunt for Chap. So cute, he was so confused about where the eggs were coming from.

This afternoon we took a picnic and went for a trip on the Ivor the Engine steam train that was running from Cholsey to Wallingford. Chap loved it, so excited about riding on the train :) We had a picnic at Wallingford and we managed to stay dry as the sun kept on making an appearance, which was lovely. Chap found more easter eggs on our walk (that sneaky easter bunny!) - he was so tired this evening so once he was in bed we all enjoyed a lovely roast lamb dinner - yum!

3rd April - Easter Saturday 2010

Another wet day so we decided to head back into Oxford and visit the new Ashmolean museum. Its been completely refurbished and there is an amazing new section with spectacular glass staircases. I spent most of my time taking pictures of the architecture rather than the artifacts themselves - oops!

Chap wasn't so impressed with this one, the ancient world section was good, with the Egyptian tombs and treasures to look at but not as exciting for him as all the big dinosaurs yesterday. I guess we'll have to take him back in a few years time :)

This was a photo that I took and wasn't so keen on it in the camera but when I uploaded it there was something about it that I loved :)
