Since the founding of the Tekije Blagaj on the Buna Spring and around the Shrine of Sari Saltuk, the waters have been deemed holy and drinking or bathing in them purifying.

A Sufi believes there are many ways to God. Plenty that we know of, and others that we do not. In Tekije Blagaj, this is manifested in a poster bearing the names of Allah (as the source of wisdom and the ultimate desire of the faithful), Muhammad and Ali (as the City of Divine Wisdom and the Gate to it respectively) along with the turbans of the greatest Sufi masters whose Tariqas are of the many ways to reach the Unity of Being with the Divine.

The top three turbans belong to Sidi Ahmad al-Badawi (d. Tanta, Egypt), Sidi Abdel Qader al-Kilani (d. Baghdad, Iraq) and Pir Muhammad Bahaa-ul-Din Shah Naqshband (d. Bukhara, Uzbekistan). Other turbans include those of Mevlana Celaludine Rumi (d. Konya), Sidi Ibrahim al-Dusouki (of Dosouk, Egypt), Abul Hassan al-Shadhilli (b. Ceuta, Morocco and d. Humaysera, Egypt) and others.

The Tekjie of Blagaj. This Tekjie was originally founded by the Bektashi Sufi Order in the 16th century around one of the many shrines dedicated to the 13th century Sufi wanderer Sari Saltuk who arrived in the Balkans almost a centry prior to the Ottoman conquest.
