If you ever get an opportunity to participate in a private tour of a major league facility, do it. Getting to see the innards of any large building is cool enough, but walking along the arch of a rectractable roof 260 feet above home plate is nothing short of spectacular. As you can see in this photograph of Miller Park in Milwaukee, WI.

Cathedral of the Pines is a great little spot in northern Wisconsin. It's right outside of Lakewood in Oconto County.

A short path leads to the little grove of 200-300 year old trees that would make a great place for a proposal, or a wedding. And, lest you think Elvis is getting too sentimental, it's also a great place for an evening of fun and games.

It's near the snowmobile/4-wheeler path and is even more spectacular in winter.

And since the entrance fee is free, it's far less expensive than the hard-earned money you'll lose (and you will) gambling at the Potawatami Casino just a few miles away.

John Deere - 1939 Model B Tractor

This 1939 John Deere Model B tractor was purchased by Elvis' grandfather in October of 1940. According to the receipt, Elvis' grandfather paid $880.00 in cash for it (including a 4 bottom plow).

The tractor stills runs (and sounds) great. It's a genuine piece of Americana.

Hay Fever

One of the great things about making photographs is that it gets you out and about. Being out and about means you get to experience the sights, sounds and smells of our great planet.

One of the greatest smells is that of freshly cut hay on a warm summer evening. The heat of the day really draws out the sweetness of the hay and (unless you suffer from hay fever) it will bring a smile to your face. And isn't smiling one of the best reasons to make photographs?

This is a special place for Elvis. Elvis was baptized here. He watched the old church that stood at this spot for decades be torn down and replaced with this new church (well, it was new in 1967). Elvis experienced weddings, funerals and all manner of community gatherings here. Elvis used to light the candles for Sunday service. There's even a dove with Elvis' name on it hanging from the rafters.

All of that and it's located in the greatest town on planet Earth - Toeterville, Iowa. Home of the friendliest people and the best fish fry you'll ever experience. Really.

Fresh Snowfall 2

Elvis braved another cold morning to venture out to Cave Point County Park in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin. Two inches of fresh snowfall overnight guaranteed some pretty, artistic subjects.

Thick cloud cover prevented a sunrise photograph but every once in a while the sun would peak through, casting nice shadows verywhere. Elvis set his camera up by these rocks and waited patiently.

Elvis is not complaining. Standing on the shores of Lake Michigan watching the waves crash on the Wisconsin shore is a privilege. Every minute here is a gift.

Photograph made with a Nikon D3s and 24-70 lens set at 60mm. Elvis was shivering, so a tripod was used.
