Fort Stevens State Park, Oregon.

The Peter Iredale was a four-masted steel barque sailing vessel that ran ashore October 25, 1906, on the Oregon coast en route to the Columbia River. It was abandoned on Clatsop Spit near Fort Stevens in Warrenton about 4 miles (6 km) south of the Columbia River channel. Wreckage is still visible, making it a popular tourist attraction as one of the most accessible shipwrecks of the Graveyard of the Pacific.

This is a popular spot to shoot at sunset. Unfortunately, I was there midday during a gray and cloudy day. Under these circumstances, I decided to take a long exposure shot, focus on the reflection, and post-process the image utilizing a split-tonning technique. I think the result is not too bad.

This is my first image in which I utilized the so-called Orton Effect. The Orton Effect -- named after Michael Orton who first used the technique -- is a sandwich of two identical images, one in focus and the other out of focus. I am pleased with the result I was able to achieve in this image.

La Jolla, California

Yesterday I went to La Jolla to shoot the sunset. According to the weather people on TV, it was supposed to be a great sunset because of the high clouds we've been having lately. Unfortunately, the marine layer once again moved in and spoiled the show and proved the TV weather people are useless. I had to resort to the "Big Stopper" filter ;-)

Inle Lake, Shan State, Burma (Myanmar)

Inle Lake is a freshwater lake located in Shan State. The people of Inle Lake (called Intha) live in four towns bordering the lake, numerous small villages along the lake's shores, and on the lake itself. Local fishermen are known for practicing a distinctive rowing style which involves standing at the stern on one leg and wrapping the other leg around the oar.

Amarapura, Mandalay Region, Burma (Myanmar)

Amarapura, a former capital of Burma, is located just south of the city of Mandalay. Lake Taungthaman is a source of water for the villages in the area as well as a place for fishing. A large part of the lake is almost dry during the dry season. The famous Ubein's bridge made of teakwood spans across the lake.

From the 9th to 13th centuries, Bagan was the capital of the Kingdom of Pagan, the first kingdom to unify the regions that would later constitute modern Myanmar. During the kingdom's height between the 11th and 13th centuries, over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan plains alone, of which the remains of over 2,200 temples and pagodas still survive to the present day.
