The Marina in Brighton is, to some, a publicly funded travellers site for travellers who can afford a yacht, dumped onto Brighton beach in the 1960s.
But note that the Brighton Sightseeing tourist bus comes here!

Brighton Concrete

Brighton beach is perhaps not best known for its concrete. But there's millions of tons of it just a mile from the pier where a marina was built with public money in the 1960s.
Because of the cliff, a series of flyovers had to be built to allow car access to the yachts.

Cycling along the undercliff path from Brighton, I come across the most unusual drumming practice site I've ever seen. He's called "puncture kit" and his website is linked here

I'm not sure why he's rigged his kit up to his bike - the waves crashing around it will rust his bearings......

Brighton presents itself as all green and environmentally friendly - yet the seafront is also the destination of various London to Brighton runs of old cars, minis, motorbikes, volkswagens etc.
Most must use more petrol per gallon than the average!
This traction engine is from the old buses and vehicles rally.
And while i'm not really interested in old vehicles, they do sometimes look good!

One of the great things about this display at the Brighton festival was that the artists was happy for people to walk in & out of her work, and take photographs.
Of course, as taking photographs of Brighton photographers (see tag) is one of my hobbies, and armed with a little compact, I couldn't resist snapping a quick candid shot as I saw these two cameras appear amongst the shirts.
I hope they don't get shirty with me...........

After 6 months of winter, London descended on Brighton beach for the first sunny Mayday bank holiday in years. The fact that the sea was still freezing didn't stop some people getting in: and others taking the cliched photos of splashing water backed by sunlight.

Everone does this! (I wonder who the first was). I couldn't even see what i was doing it was so bright, and with family dragging me off, i had no time to find a less cluttered viewpoint.
But I liked the low point of view. And weatherwisw it was a fantastic contrast to the seafront 2 days earlier. (See link and in comments below)

These flats have some fantastic views across Brighton and the sea. They're also easy to turn into a cliché look-at-these-dreary-council-flats photo.
They were Brighton's first tower blocks, built in 1961 replacing the slums between Albion Hill & Carlton Hill
