From the 1860s until 1887, the area along the shoreline between the lighthouse and the Nine O'Clock Gun as well as the nearby wooded area was Vancouver's first graveyard. This burial site ceased to be used when both the Park roadway and Mountain View cemetery were established in 1887.

Oh... and a wheezing sea lion swam by as I was taking this photo. :)

Canadian Gold

Whenever a gold medal is won for Canada during the Olympics, the Olympic rings in Coal Harbour change to a gold colour and the horns on the roof of Canada Place play the first four notes of O Canada. These horns normally go off exactly at noon daily so it was sometimes a bit confusing! ;P

Lighthouse

The lighthouse at Brockton Point is one of two at the Port of Vancouver. The other one is at Prospect Point. In 1915, the current lighthouse replaced the original structure built in 1890 to help ships navigate Burrard Inlet. Not surprisingly, this is a favourite spot for tourists (and locals) to take photos. ;)
