A gentle man who lives in the village and always wanders around in nature, totally innocent and always calling my dog: "hondje zwarte kees".
Just after I asked him if I could take a photo, he saw other people coming, so the attention for me was gone.
It looks as if he was a bit sad, but
that whas only a split second, he jumped on his bike and went back into his own world....

Yesterday afternoon a woodpecker entered the nest and pulled out nearly all the nesting material. I was too late to chase him away (yes it was a male) and hurried to get a screwdriver to open the nest box in order to put back all the nesting material under the 2 young birds. The parents were very upset but came back after a while to feed the two again, luckily.
This morning I woke at 07.30 and found most of the soft nesting stuff on the ground....
No parents flying on and off.
No peeping of the young birds.
This afternoon I opened the box and buried the two tiny birds. So sad. Lazy crazy woodpecker.
