A Boeing B-17G "Flying Fortress" taxis to parking at Moffett Federal Airfield. This Fort, "Nine-O-Nine", is lovingly maintained and displayed by the Collings Foundation.

To get from the pilot's compartment to the nose turret and bombardier's position, you have to crawl on your hands and knees along a wooden catwalk.

You go right by the nosewheel and its doors and it is entirely possible to step/sit on those doors.

They say "DO NOT SIT" because the doors are designed to break away if you put your weight on them.

If you were a nose gunner or bombardier on a B-24 and if your plane got hit and was going down, this was your escape route!

There's two .50 caliber machine guns mounted here to protect the front area of the aircraft from air attack.

My "seat" was right next to the waist guns; the "seat" comprised of a basic seatbelt and the floor. Awesome!

The waist guns are just out of view to the left and right; the tail turret is all the way in the back.
