We happened across the Ambleside Farmers' Market this morning. The samples from La Chocolaterie were so good that we had to get some to snack on! On the left is the Coconama salad with some interesting flavours: yam (purple), kale (green), tomato (orange), and avocado (light green). The ones on the right are rich coffee. The other food vendors there were pretty amazing too.

After we checked out the Ambleside Farmers' Market, Wayne took this photo of the visiting elephant seal, who chose Ambleside beach as the place to spend the next month or during moulting. This was from dim sum from a couple of birthdays ago. Franco and I went to our favourite Chinese restaurant at the time and had a variety of dishes. These steamed rice noodle rolls are filled with three kinds of mushroom and seasoned with soy sauce.

Homemade pumpkin pie

When I was visiting in Toronto, my brother wanted to make pumpkin pie so we made it following Smitten Kitchen's recipe loosely. This took way too long to make (and is way too labour-intensive for me to post on shortcook), but it was pretty tasty. We should have blind-baked the crust longer though because the bottom was still somewhat chewy. I don't know why but we ended up with enough crust for two pies but more than enough filling, so we topped up the two crusts and baked another pie pan with just the filling on its own.
