Now in Drents Museum, Assen (Netherlands): The Soviet Myth (Socialist Realism 1932-1960)

Impressive exhibition with 70 paintings idealising the Soviet society.
A visit is highly recommended.
To promote this exhibition a huge statue of Lenin has been placed at the end of De Vaart in Assen.

An old Chinese saying goes: 'In heaven is paradise, on earth, Hangzhou and Suzhou'. The ancient gardens of Suzhou, which are considered as the most beautiful in China, have served as an example for the Chinese garden in Haren (Groningen) . Both the design and construction are managed by Chinese experts. The materials used are authentic Chinese. At the opening in 1995 by H.M. Queen Beatrix received the garden the name "The Hidden Empire of Ming"
It is the second largest Chinese garden within Europe.

Een oud Chinees gezegde luidt: 'In de hemel is het paradijs, op aarde zijn Hangzhou en Suzhou'.
De eeuwenoude tuinen van Suzhou, die als de mooiste van China worden beschouwd, hebben als voorbeeld gediend voor de Chinese tuin in Haren.

Zowel het ontwerp als de aanleg zijn verzorgd door Chinese experts. De gebruikte materialen zijn authentiek Chinees.
Bij de opening in 1995 door H.M. koningin Beatrix ontving de tuin de naam "Het Verborgen Rijk van Ming"

Het is de op één na grootste Chinese tuin binnen Europa. Door de Chinese tuin wandelen is als dwalen door een Chinees schilderij. De galerijen met verrassende doorkijkjes, paviljoens, kronkelende paden met wisselende gezichtspunten, een vijverpartij, een eiland en een waterval zijn bedoeld om de bezoeker te doen dromen. De gedachten worden meegevoerd door de verbeelding. De tuin is zo ontworpen dat er in elk jaargetijde iets in bloei staat. De tuin heeft ook in de winter een prachtig uitstraling

De Hortus Botanicus te Haren (Gr.) is met 20 ha oppervlakte de grootste botanische tuin in Nederland.
