Das Freiburger Münster wurde zwischen 1200 und 1513. Freiburg ist Bischoffsitz, daher sollte die Kirche eigentlich Dom genannt werden. Aber aus Tradition blieb es beim Münster, schließlich ist das mit dem Bischoff ja auch nur etwas über 150 Jahre her. Das Münster hat übrigens nie der Kirche gehört, sondern erst den Herzogen von Zähringen und dann der Stadt Freiburg, er gehört heute dem Münsterfabrikfond, der bereits 1295 erwähnt wird, der aktuelle Vertrag zur Regelung der Rechte stammt von 1901.

The Freiburg Cathedral was built between 1200 and 1513. Nowadays the church should really be called Cathedral. But due to tradition it is still called minster, finally, well it is only a little over 150 years since there is a bishoff in Freiburg. The Minster was never propert the church, first the Dukes of Zähringen had been proprietor and then the city of Freiburg, the minster now belongs to the Munster plant stock that has been mentioned already in 1295, the current contract governing the rights was made in 1901.

Nein, die Zeit kann noch nicht gekommen sein.....

Johann Gottfried Schadow wurde am 20.05.1764 als Sohn eines Schneidermeisters in Berlin geboren. Von ihm stammt die Quadriga auf dem Brandenburger Tor. Er starb am 21.1.1850 in Berlin und wurde auf dem Dorotheenstädtischen Friedhof in Berlin begraben. Die Statue auf seinem Grab stammt von Heinrich Kaehler.

Johann Gottfried Schadow was born on 20.05.1764 as the son of a master tailor in Berlin. The Quadriga at the Brandenburg Gate is one of his works. He died on 21.1.1850 in Berlin and was buried at the cemetery ( Dorotheenstädtischer Friedhof) in Berlin. The statue on his grave is from Henry Kaehler.

Sunshine and guitar

Nachdem ein Model zu den Aufnahmen eine Geige mitgebracht hatte, war ich auf den Geschmack gekommen und habe nach weiteren Modellen gesucht, um Aufnahmen von Musikanten zu machen. Der Musikant hier - Boris Seifert - ist kein Model sondern in der Model-Kartei als Fotograf angemeldet. Der Tag, an dem wir die Aufnahmen gemacht haben, hatte strahlenden Sonnenschein und war wohl der heißeste diesen Jahres.

One of the models had violin with her at a shooting. I liked to take a photo of her with the violing and was than looking for other models to take pictures of musicians. The musician here - Boris Seifert - is no model but a photographer - like me a member of the Model-Kartei, which is something like the German version of Modelmayhem. The day of the shooing brought bright sunshine and was probably the hottest of this year.

Eduard von Hess wurde am 5. Juli 1808 in Oggersheim geboren, er starb am 24. Oktober 1880 in Bodenheim. Er studierte Medizin, war Obergerichts- und Stadtrat in Mainz, außerdem war er Maler und Lithograf. 1880 erhielt er das Ritterkreuz 1. Klasse des Ordens des Heiligen Michael. Im Mainzer Dom stammt das Christusbild des Laurentiusaltars.

Edward Hess was born 5th July 1808 in Oggersheim, he died 24th October 1880 in Bodenheim. He studied medicine, was at the Supreme Court and City Council in Mayence, he was also a painter and lithographer. In 1880 he received the Knight's Cross 1st Class of the Order of Saint Michael. In the Cathedral of Mayence there the image of Christ at Laurentius altar that was made by him.

Dialogue with a fish

Die Statue steht in der Fußgängerzone (Fahrräder und Elektrokarren bitte Schritttempo fahren, Autos gibt es eh' nicht) vor einem Cafe auf der Nordseeinsel Langeoog. Ich muss bei dieser Skulptur an das Grimmsche Märchen vom Fischer un sin Fru denken :
Manntje, Manntje, Timpe Te
Buttje, Buttje in der See,
myne Fru de llsebill
will nich so, as ik wol will.'

The skulpture can be seen in the pedestrian area (bycicles and electric trolleys have to drive at walking pace, there are no motorcars) of Langeoog, an island in the North Sea. The sculpture reminds me of the fairy talefairy of the fisherman and his wife

Friedrich Wilhelm Fricke (* 4. Dezember 1810 in Braunschweig; † 1891 in Wiesbaden) war ein pädagogischer Schriftsteller. Fricke war zugleich ein begeisterter Anwalt der rein phonetischen Rechtschreibung; er gründete 1876 den Verein für vereinfachte deutsche Rechtschreibung und dessen Zeitschrift Reform (Bremen seit 1877), 1885 den Verein zur Verbreitung der Lateinschrift. Außerdem schrieb er das Buch:Das Fußballspiel: seine Geschichte, Vorzüge und dessen Betriebsweise auf deutschen Spielplätzen. Hannover-Linden: Manz, 1890.

Friedrich Wilhelm Fricke (born December 4, 1810 in Braunschweig, † 1891 in Wiesbaden) was an educational writer. Fricke was also an enthusiastic advocate of purely phonetic spelling; in 1876 he founded the German Society for simplified spelling and the journal "Reform" (Bremen since 1877), in 1885 the Association for the dissemination of the Latin alphabet. He also wrote the book: The football game: its history, its advantages and operation of playgrounds in Germany.

Dieses Denkmal wurde ihm 1872 vom Wiener Männergesangverein errichtet.

The monument was errected by the Vienna male choral society.
