Hi all! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and all that:D I've been planning this photo for a while now and I finally got to shoot it when Sarah Ann Loreth came to visit. It was inspired by a short story that was a part of Neil Gaiman's Calendar of Tales, which you can read here. The model is a friend of mine who you may have seen before as a vampire! She was such a trooper with the water on quite a windy and chilly day! Big thanks to her as well as my new friend Lauren Kattan, who did her make up. Check out her website here.

Hello Everyone! So, this is quite a random upload, but i've been hanging out with the fantastic Sarah Ann Loreth for the past few days here in New Orleans and we have been enjoying everything the city has to offer! Including it's famous graveyards. I believe this conversation went as follows: Me- "Sarah, holy shit....look." Sarah-"Oh wow, that's awesome." *stare for 30 seconds in awe* Me-"So, which one of us is getting in it...?" It was quite eery and of course Sarah jumped right in. Big props to her for being an awesome model as well as helping out with the editing a bit:D

Hiya! As promised I will be TRYING to release a LAFG photo once a week until I've edited all of the ones that I want to! This is the amazing and wonderful and talented and nice and completey ballsy for posing for this Sarah Ann Loreth!! NOW, There are some very obvious mistakes in this and I've battled with it for weeks, but at some point you just have to let go and I am proud of the way it pushed me and the difference in style that It allowed me to explore. (plus sarah would kill me if I didn't post, cause...well...naked. heh).

This image, as you can probably tell was directly inspired by the incredible film "Life of Pi". When I saw the film I was so inspired by how beautiful and artistic it was, every scene offered something to the imagination, but the one scene that truly took my breath away was the sunrise, which you can see at about 1:23 of the trailer. I knew that Gurbir Grewal would be at the meet up, and I mean, why not take advantage of him for this concept?? He was a wonderful model and took the cold water crashing against him like a champ! This is also the next image in my Passions Project, accompanied by a filmed scene and blog post, which you can read/see here.

The Protector of Spring

In the midst of spring, among sunshine, warm air, and
yellow daises, came a bleakness. Only faint at first, but there
nonetheless. He noticed, of course he noticed, for he must,
there was no one else. That heavy feeling drug his stomach
down and he froze, for only a second, but no more because
there was no one else. It was he alone who knew of what was
soon to come. Grabbing what he could in his hands, he ran for
shelter, but was lost. Darkness surrounded him, his heart
beat fast, and head spun. in one last effort he removed his
bright red scarf and wrapped what he could in it's warmth. It
is this final effort that showed his true spirit. His warm heart
radiated through the scarf and kept that which he held gently
in his hands safe from the cold. From then on, all over the
world he was remembered as the warm hearted one, the
protector of spring.

This is another photo from LAFG2013 of one of my best friends, the kind, multi-talented Joel Robison. The basic concept for this image happened on a whim. I grabbed Joel because I wanted to photograph him, told him to bring the scarf, then grabbed the flowers as we were walking and so on and so forth....it just sort've came together in my head as I went, but the beautiful thing is that the full concept didn't hit me until I started editing, and that's when I wrote the poem above...it's incredible how art works, sometimes we don't realize what we are creating until afterwards. I wanted this to have a very "Joel" vibe, because he inspires me so much in both photography and life in general. I feel this photo represents everything that Joel is as a person, and I'm not sure many people will disagree with that.

*I'm going to try and upload one photo from LAFG a week until I'm done, because there are a lot:D

So, we fall apart together, for we both rely on one another, pushing an pulling against forces of our own creation as well as ones much larger than ourselves. It is this that breaks us apart. All we have now is one thing, one small bit of hope to hang on to. It is going to be a long, weary journey, all we can do is hold on for dear love.

This, my friends, is the very first photo for my new project "passions project in the quote. It was inspired by this song, which led me to write a short poem that also inspired this character story, the line above ^ is a piece from it! Hello Everyone! Man, has it been a long time since I've done this...VERY sorry about the length of absence, but that's all going to change now:D

This image, along with the other I've posted, will be my last photos from the Indiana Meetup. It is also the last concept that a large group of us shot together on the last night before everyone left. I came up with a similar idea, involving Ethan's dad's old cars, and a "pin up" style, and then after talking to Taylor, who is the model here...we tweaked the idea and turned it in to this! It was so much fun to shoot and seeing everyone gather around in the low light while someone reflected and some one else threw flour was a wonderful ending to a life changing trip.

Who will prevail?

This is a shoot that I did WAYYYYY back at the Midwest gathering, but I have been so busy lately that It sort've got pushed aside and forgotten for a while. I finally got a stolen free moment this weekend to work on it, and I'm so happy I can upload now! This main image was actually editing about a month ago, so the style is a little different and I'm not as happy with it, but I didn't want to start over...again. I think it's cool to see the growth and change in my work anyway:D BIG thanks to the wonderfully talented and awesome Shane and Liisa

**A little life update: As I said, I've been very busy between school, a headshot business, other photography stuff, auditions, acting class, and just all the other day to day things of life! I recently had my first showcase, which was tons of fun and all of the support from friends and family was AMAZING! I also, just booked my first role in a movie-it's a small Grad student thesis film here at my University, but I'm very excited about it nonetheless:D

This is the photo that I will be entering in to Kiara's contest. I decided that I wanted to use her photo Search and Rescue as inspiration. As much as I wanted to find a life preserver like in her photo, I just simply couldn't put my hands on one, so I did without. I've put more work in to this photo than I think any one before it, and I've learned a lot about photoshop while editing it all thanks to the wonderfully talented and helpful Sarah:D Thanks for all of your help!

Hurricane

So, as most of you may know, yesterday Hurricane Isaac made landfall in my home state of Louisiana. Me and my family, as well as the majority of the region that I live in were very fortunate to not experience the harshest parts of the storm. There were many areas that lost their homes to flooding, trees down, and the like.

Since this storm was not as strong as many I've experienced in my life I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to go out and take photos:D It still wasn't easy, considering I was experiencing gust of up 50mph at times and heavy rain...but it was quite fun. With this photo I wanted to go for a more "commercial" look while editing. I'm trying to practice with skin tone, retouching, and making an impact with my photos. Although this was not the original photo I had planned to post, once I started editing this one I realized that I hated the expansion shot in comparison....so I stuck with my gut even though I had taken the time to expand and start editing the other.

A while back, when I shot the Pocahontas themed photo, my friend made a video of the process. I'm so happy she did, because it's so cool:D

There are always new things to discover. There is always something unknown. You must simply open your eyes and free your mind to find them. Life is about the small moments, the little adventures, the short burst of utter bliss. Go out and find these moments, don't wait around for them to find you because they will come..but oh so few and far between.

Today, whilst runnething, I came up with this idea. I had gotten this AWESOME shirt at the thrift store a few weeks ago, and knew I wanted to use it, but wasn't sure how. It all came together when I looked out at this lake. Pose/composition inspired by the incredible Joeri.
