For some reason I couldn't get him to recreate the lightning coming out of the eyes. Other than that, I think it's a fair resemblance :)

Here in Florida we grow different kinds of crops. Let's see... there are oranges, grapefruits and strawberries - you know the normal stuff. Then we have the odd types of crops like alligator and flamingo farms. This one here is a baby, but don't you worry, I'm feeding it miracle grow, so it's gonna be big and strong and just as goofy looking as the rest of um.

I was cleaning under my bed when I came across a box of old photos. I had collected the photos from my Granny, who had recalled who was in what picture, around what year, and had marked and sequenced them. This was all an attempt when I was in college to find out more about my family history. For some reason I can't find the pad of paper with all the information describing each photo, but even after 5+ years I remember my favorite picture of the bunch...

It is a picture of my grandparents before they were married, swimming on a summer afternoon, at a boatdock in Windermere. I think they were in their teens or at most early twenties. It brings back such fun memories of old Florida. It's rare that one can say their grandparents, parents, and themselves grew up in a small little town in Orlando.

I don't know why I love this photo so much... maybe it's the fact that it's a time we'll never see again, since my Papa is in late stages of Parkinson's. Maybe it just reminds me that there really is such a thing as true love. I don't think I've ever seen a couple love each other so much for so long, and under such circumstances. Here they are going strong well over 60 years together, maybe not physically or mentally, but emotionally I see that connection still and it gives me hope for my future...

I'm a big sign person. I always read signs, because for the most part I find them comical. I see humor in signs that probably most don't or even bother to look for. The best is when a sign doesn't really SAY anything, when in actuality it says a whole lot.

This sign is in a smaller city outside of Orlando where I own my house. Can you guess what it is really saying?

I love this photo. It calms me.

This tree is one of the oldest and largest in Orlando. It sits proudly in front of the Mennello Museum of American Art in the heart of the museum district. The limbs go on for days. It's a really impressive sight.

We went to Beefy King for lunch today. With probably the best roast beef sandwiches in Orlando, and tasty tots, Beefy King has been a landmark in the area since 1967.

This is the machine they use to cut their fresh sandwich meats. On the other side is a cutout in the table that shoots steam. This little square piece is the only place they make sandwiches on. It's neat to watch. They then slop all the excess bits up with the other side of the bun and *SLAP* it together for a tasty treat!

We went to Gringos Locos after happy hour at the Orlando Brewery tonight. Gringos is famous for their oh so good food when you're drunk late at night. We weren't drunk so much as starved, but it all worked out well. I loved the festive napkin dispenser.

I got in my car today and the temperature gauge said 110! And boy did it feel like it. For the 20 minutes I was driving, I couldn't even get the car cool. I literally thought I was melting!

The 'fun committee' at work planned a Marketing Department picnic in the park. It reminded me of one of those field days you get in grade school, where you can't go home, but you don't have to work ;)

We went on an airboat ride in the everglades today. Although I've lived in FL for over 25 years, I never got to go on an airboat ride. I've alwyas wanted to, and the time presented itself.

It was way better than I imagined, and we zoomed through small mangrove pathways at over 40 miles per hour. I also managed to obliterate a perfectly good jameson hat into a clean pulp. *Note to self, airboat motors are scary*
