Hello!

i definitely see a huge downgrade in my weapon of choice... from DSLR to editing the then-boyfriend's DSLR pictures to editing my very old pictures to editing my friend's point & shoot picture to... this, blurry cellphone camera glory. But just thought i'd upload a picture, as crappy as it may be, and say i'm alive! :)

It's been over two months since we've been married :) Condo life is good, but so far, my laptop, D60, and (barely touched) LX-5 are still at my parents' place. Even my beloved Chubs hasn't moved in yet :'( Soon... soon... she seems to remember me every time we visit my parents though, and is gradually allowing me to give her cheek massages again :)

Other than that, this is (one of my) happy corner(s) at our new temporary home. My old dresser is now our night table, and this is what sits on top, so we can see our family every day ❤

i haven't taken pictures in awhile. In fact, this picture isn't even taken by me :P My friend took this picture of us with her point and shoot and i processed it.... She's moving to Houston for a year because of a job opportunity that came up, hence the occasion to take pictures and actually upload onto the computer. The car? A camaro convertible (the boyfriend's business car :) ).

Before i get caught up on other things and neglect my Flickr again, meet the cutest birdie in Hk's Yuen Po Bird Garden!

i took tons of (similar) bird shots that day - birds in cages, birds scattered on the ground stealing the other birds' food - but this one stood out to me because it was adorable. Like its companions, it just wouldn't stay still (nor would it *ahemshutup*), but rather than flying all over the place, it walked along the base of its cage, paused, chirped, walked, paused, chirped. So cute! It was almost like the birdie was doing a show for me.

Hello, my neglected Flickr,

How are you? i am suppose to wake up every morning at 5:30am for work but i can't sleep right now and it's 1:30am fml. Work has been good (i'm loving my new job) but every other area seems to be not doing too, too well so i guess life has been a-okay.

My beloved sis is back from her winter co-op term in Hk, so it's finally time to look at my Hk vacay pics from last summer (again). Yes, blame the boyfriend for making me lose interest in photography because i'm a little tired of running around with the heavy dslr. The 3 weeks of "competition" in that hot weather really took the fun out of it :'( In its place, i have rekindled my love of jewellery-making. i promise to take a decent picture of my works soon, but in the meantime, here is a crappy cellphone picture:

Tocca, i believe, means "touch" in Italian. This one smells of green tea and roses. *swoon*

Just a bunch of my recent favourite things, i suppose. From L-R:
+ my new Kodak Automatic 35
+ my sister's framed picture of our family before she was born (when i was maybe 3)
+ a porcelain rabbit jewelery holder from my colleague
+ Longines watch
+ Pandora bracelet
+ calf-skin purse (using my chain belt as the strap)
+ cashmere scarf

By the way, these recent photos were taken in my sister's room after she had boarded the plane to Hong Kong. (i had previously asked for permission, of course.) Her departure was pretty sudden and unexpected, and though not permanent (she is only there for a co-op work term), our mom's words kept echoing in my head. Cherish your time together, she used to say often when i was 10 and she was 2 or 3, because before you know it, you will have grown up and these days will never come back.

If all goes well, i may probably be married before she graduates. But she will always be welcome to have sleepovers :)

i love bird cages. Always have. The inspiration must've come from those home decor magazines i used to flip through from time to time, so when i saw this necklace weeks ago, it was a must-buy.

When i recently revealed that i would like a bird cage when i have my own place, i got some negative reactions...

Younger sis: You're weird.
Boyfriend: That's creepy. Why would you want an empty bird cage? i thought you were scared of ghosts. What if you hear bird noises in the middle of the night... *chirpchirpchirp*

Blah. My mom's reaction to this necklace though was, "The toe jai ('rabbit' in Chinese) would say, 'i want a half-cage, too! So i can escape and run free!' "

Dear Flickr,

It has been a long while. i was lost, but i may have been somewhat found. Found better footing, that is. When i was last here, i was feeling a bit dejected about what the future might hold. It felt like i was running in circles, fighting an endless battle each day (as is everyone else, i am sure), and one can only wonder about the purpose of it all. My one fallback, namely inspiration from photography, abandoned me as well, and i sat at the very bottom wondering if i could ever pull myself out of this abyss.

Around that time, we returned to the place of my birth as strangers, expecting to roam through this different part of the world as tourists. Nine years is a very long time to be absent from a place, but to our surprise, family and long-lost friends embraced us with open arms, as if we had never left at all. i had started my travels a broken person, and have returned anew. i am a better person today because i have found strength in their love.

Please find attached an old picture from the summer when i had baked cupcakes to welcome my family home. i will upload more again from time to time, but until then.

It is Thanksgiving in the US, not in Canada, but that doesn't stop me from being thankful for the small things in life.

Family... especially my sis.
The boyfriend, for all his love and support everyday since Day 1.
A house to live in, that i grew up in.
Good food... and good health to be able to enjoy it all.
Extended family and friends, especially those who have shown us so much love when we visited Hk back in August.
A job i enjoy... but mainly some of the girls i work with.
No financial worries. Not at this moment anyway :P

There's much more to be thankful for, of course, but i'll just leave it at this.

A chocolate-covered multi-layered honey cake sandwiched with sour cream icing, topped with a bee made of fondant. Yummy... chosen by my sis for my boyfriend's birthday while the two of us were at work.

Four more days, and it's off to Asia for us! It will be 9 years since i have returned to my birthplace... i'm excited :) (And stressed. And am getting sick, it seems.)

Another one from our engagement shoot that day, a different couple this time. As long as their faces aren't showing, it's okay to post, no? i'm starting to love doing photo shoots. Each couple has their own dynamics, and finding what makes them unique and capturing it is definitely fulfilling.

Four years ago, my then-engaged friend told us that it's never possible to know someone was 100% right for you before getting married. "If you're 80% sure, then that's really good already. The rest of it, you'll have to take a leap of faith."
