skengbubbler posted a photo:

I'm a big fan of the obscure little Kibwe label! Every single release I've heard so far has been great and this one is certainly no exception - what makes it even more interesting is that it's the first album to be released on the label. I've hunted it for quite some time so I'm glad to finally have it!

Reggae International differs somewhat from the other albums in the way that it is comprised of strictly non-digital productions. Also what I guess the title is referring to it was recorded in four different countries! Some songs in Washington DC, USA, where the Kibwe possee were at large, others in Kingston, JA and finally there are some songs that have been recorded in Toronto, CAN and London, UK! This of course makes for a diverse sound. The Sugar Minott songs are contemporary mid 80's dancehall mixed in the US while the Castell's sound like 70's roots and were mixed at Tubby's down Drumilly Avenue.

Debra Washington's »Children of Babylon« is a slow, menacing roots track which is followed by a lively cut of the heavenless rhythm with vocals by Wayne Hutton. The album truly makes for a colourful ride.

Do check it out! There are some strong songs and some incredible ones! Only song that leaves me cold is Michael Enkrumah's »Binta«. Great rhythm ruined by tone-deaf singing. »Mamase Mamasa« by Kublai Khan is just a wonderful little rub-a-dub gem and many songs are of equal quality or better.

The cover art has that typical DIY style of the Kibwe label that I just love.
