Had a great weekend thanks to be able to get out and do some landscape shots again with my friend Candace. The weather, although not entirely cooperative, still made for some nice cloud work, and cool long exposure stuff. Yay, to ND filter fun!

Another shot from out State Capitol in Hawaii. I am not sure if it's the fact that I pass this building frequently or that I have never bothered to give it much attention, but I have never found this place very interesting until the day I saw it through a viewfinder!

Finally after months of barely touching a camera, I was finally able to get out and do some shooting. It was a fun day to walk around, and even better because I was able to do this was a friend.

Over the weekend we attended a friends housewarming get together at Capitol Place, Downtown Honolulu. The higher floor that they are on, gave way for a perspective not always common in this area, unless within a commercial building. Thus, I took this opportunity, to snap a picture of not only a great cityscape, but the May 5th, "Supermoon!"

The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel had these wonderful orange/red elevators. I was immediately attracted to their vibrant nature and had to take a photo. In order to enhance and increase the dramatic nature of the elevator doors, I processed the photo in selective color, to make it pop. The lighting of the 7th floor lobby gave for wonderful black and white contrast, and being the shot was taken in the late evening, the natural vignetting was a great finish to the image.

Although selective color was used in post-processing, the color of the doors were not altered with the exception of a slight adjustment for white balance.

On our visit to the Island of Hawaii, we stayed at the Mauna Kea Beach Resort. This hotel was fabulous, with a great staff, wonderful food, and nice amenities, it ensured an unforgettable stay.

I apologize for the late submission to this weeks project. My wife and I were on vacation on the Island of Hawaii, and just got back late tonight. (For many of you, it's already Monday)

Being on another island, I thought it would be the perfect way to capture a fence for this project. We set out for a drive along the countryside of Waimea, and came across this old fence along some farmland property. I thought to make this a black and white shot, but the blue of the sky that day could not be ignored.

In this final copy, two things were done to remedy the distractions. First, I moved in closer to eliminate the railing above the camera, and second, I opened some windows to allow the drapes to flow away from the railings therefore eliminating its silhouette.

I had gone to Kakaako Park yesterday with my friend Betty in hopes for some golden hour shots. Unfortunately the luck of good weather was not on my side. Still, it was nice to hang out with a friend, talk story, and at least get in one iphone shot. ; )

Like a breath of fresh air I was finally able to get out and enjoy some quality time with my camera this past weekend. Along with some good friends, and each of us armed with our gear, we headed out for a photo trip. It's always nice to head out with friends who also enjoy photography. Each person having their own vision of what they hope to capture. Being able to see what comes of the trip is just as exciting as Christmas morning.... you never know what to expect.

Hope everyone has been well, and I am slowly trying to view what I have been missing for so long in my absence from flickr. And just as it has been to get out and take pictures, seeing all of your streams truly is my "breath of fresh air."
