The sea defence groynes help to protect the coast from erosion in the mouth of the river Orwell which leads to the Port of Felixstowe, UK.
Dovercourt low lighthouse was built in 1863 as one of a pair of leading lights.
The iron lighthouses were built by Trinity House to aid navigation to the Ports of Harwich and Felixstowe.
The towers are 14 metres in height and exhibited a fixed white light, both lights were discontinued in 1917, the lighthouses fell into disrepair and were restored in1988.

Interesting coastal erosion structure at Caister . These metal posts were quite high on the beach and after a few years the sand and beach has built up around them and erosion. Has been reduced.

Coastal protection at Felixstowe, Cobbolds Point the main south groyne designed,along with 18 rock groynes, to protect 1500 homes from the affects of coastal erosion.

In the lee of the ridge as very windy, facing east,took this around sunset just in case poor weather the following morning. Sunrise was fine see below.

Time goes by I hope my spine doesn't bend like this as a get older!
At last managed to get a shot of the old pier now they have got the diving pontoon out of the way.
There was a photographer their when I arrived we got chatting he had flown over from Italy to get this shot and others on the coast.!!
We threw pebbles at the seagulls and they flew off for 20 mins. Saves messing in photoshop.
A long Italian name which I have forgotten but your initials were C.F. If you see this shot I hope you are pleased with the photo's you took in the UK.

Start Point is one of the most exposed peninsulars on the Engish coast. The ridge of rock runs sharply out to sea for approximately one mile.
Start Point Lighthouse is located at the end and the house is the residence of the lightkeeper.
The lighthouse was built in 1836 and stands 62 metres above sea level. The light is white group flash three every 10 sec and has a range of 25 nautical miles. It was automated in 1993.
I visited the afternoon before climbed the ridge nearly got blown over in a strong wind but managed a few shots in the lee of the ridge.
The following morning I returned to try and get a sunrise the wind strength had reduced and I sat on the ridge. It was cold and peaceful the sunrise was colourful and I took the above shot.

A slightly different shot ( locals will know) of a well known walk, at Weston, nice when the waves are crashing over the top on a high tide.but not recommended for a stroll at high water some do try!!
I seem to be good at picking windy stormy days difficult to keep tripod on three legs many shots deleted, blur etc.Got this shot when wind dropped for a few minutes.
I even got caught in a heavy hail storm and wellies shipped some lovely Weston salt water.
Again waste of time using a 10 stop with all the spray getting on the filters.

Rough seas and very windy, taken on an ebb tide. Got cold and wet with spray. Continually wiping filters etc
But hey great fun!!
Those contacts who commented on the exposure time. Thanks to all.and especially to Adrian Locke who helped with info.
It may not show in the shot but the waves were really smashing in and it was very windy a 10 stop did not work as too much spray got on filters in a very long exposure.Tthe six stop worked well and breaking waves made the photo look more like a 10 stop.

The waves were crashing in as a fresh wind blew on a rising tide,at sunset, Priest Cove,Cape Cornwall UK.On the left is an old boathouse with waves all over it and a small slipway for launching fishing boats.

The Crown Mines,a world heritage site,are former tin mines constructed in 1815.
There are two engine houses and the mine extended for about 400 metres out under the Atlantic Ocean.
The deepest shaft was approx. 500 metres below sea level.The engine houses were closed in 1914 as a result of the decline in tin prices.
The mine is located in the village of Botallack, between St Just in Penwith and the village of Pendeen, in Cornwall.U.K.

The swell waves were crashing into this gully creating a big splash which occasionally landed on the rocks.Managed a few shots without getting wet . Volcanic rocks very sharp!!. Taken at Faja Grande, Flores Island, Azores.
Looks OK on black.
