was reading the 'daily word' to my mom just now.. and it is ≈ blessing of the animals ≈

so today! is the feast day of saint francis of assisi ~ blessèd be his gentle, giving, loving soul *

wasn't planning on posting anything, since i've had to be away .. yet want to celebrate this day!
so looked quickly to find a picture from a ~blessing of the animals~ with our luluheart. :*)
(you maybe saw this once when it was inside another post)
so now dearest lightbulb will be right here atop my stream where she belongs ♥

also..
have been wanting to post something for breast cancer awareness month .. so this will be that. for..
this image was from just five days after my mom had mastectomy surgery in 2007 .. and now thankfully five years hence, she is still with us ~ due to early detection.
so please get those mammograms & do your breast checks, dear friends!

this day was also the last time lulu was ever able to go anywhere in a car ..

so altogether it is a very special day to my heart.. ;)

my mother frances ruth cox was born 2/22/22 and today is her 88th birthday!

(that's tu tutu tutu in ballet language :)
also "tutu" in hawai'ian means "grandmother"... and lulu knew mom as that, as her tutu *

mom is as beautiful, luminous and graceful now as she was when she was photographed here as a child of about 11 ... truly ~ even more so *

(viewed larger, you can see how young she is here .. she may even be younger than 11.. for i think she's painted a decoration on her forehead, which is very 'roaring twenties' :)

this is an extreme crop of the full image which was photographed by a los angeles-area artist named •victor stanley matson•
though mom and her family moved around a lot during those years, mr. matson was mom's family's neighbor at the time he made the photograph as a gift for mom.

this week i asked mom why he made such a wonderful, large, professional photograph for her.. for she remembers this day very well ;) .. and she said because he knew how in love with and dedicated to ballet she was.. and he wanted her to have something really special for that.

later today, will post the amazing, beautiful full image he made
and will write a little more about him then too ..

a sweet note:
when mom was growing up in southern california her family was quite poor, as were so many during the years of the 'great depression' .. so to pay for many years of ballet lessons, recitals and performances for mom, her mother ruth made the costumes of all the other girls in her ballet classes too.. and then for all of her ballet troupe! .. as well as all of mom's costumes.
(it touches me very much, also, to know that what mom is wearing here was made by my grandmother nana ruth, her mother ;)

am racing to the pharmacy to pick up her prescription, but had promised on the last image i would tell you what dr. b said when he came today.. and he just left.

he said "she looks weak".. and that "her cough is just terrible"
and "her heart is very weak and her lungs are completely full of fluid...
nothing seems to be helping that.."

he said every time he sees her, he is surprised she is still with us..

" and yet... she has the strongest spirit i've seen! .. she clearly wants to stay in life ... she is clearly not ready, at all, to go! "

he does not think she is in heart failure but rather that "something, i don't know what, is wrong with her lungs.."
(no one knows .. even the other vet she went to last year when she could still go in cars.. and the 2 ultrascan vets.. do not know. though a couple of these vets said they think its heart failure. )

the problem with ongoing antibiotics is that they have a residual effect of weakening leg muscles and ligaments.. so that then she could not walk..
still, he agreed we need to put her back on them right now.
she will continue on with the myriad of chinese herbal medicines she takes too.

he did acupuncture and orthopedic/chiropractic massage .. and gave her vitamin b12 shots.
he wants to see her again as soon as possible.. when he returns to our island in 2 weeks.

dr. b and carla just left ... lulu was so good with them and she is now already asleep... although coughing in her sleep
am off to get her medicine.

♥ this joyful one is my great-fairy-Godchild-great-grand-cousin (!) ... videoed a few months ago by his beautiful mom, chandon, when her s☼nshine was so young that he couldn't yet sit up by himself.. (so this cool rig is holding him up :) .. 'cause he loves the piano!

am posting this today with Love ~ for my father ~ this baby's great-grand-uncle 'bud' * .. whose birth day was 89 years ago today .. on one.oneone.twotwo > 1.11.22 ♥

because this is the sunset sky that lulu and i saw on the last evening we walked together, this valentine is truly from both of us ❤♥

its an ambrosia sky ... filled with hearts within hearts, a big leaping fish blowing bubbles, le petit prince stepping onto his planet, an angel, a rose..... and some other wonders you might find ;)

dear friends, i'd intended to make this valentine be the image with which i posted the stories of lulu's Gifts since her passing ..
but .. for those early ones.. am just not ready.

and yet in the last 3 days ~ with thanks to my mother who called her to me ~
our lulu.. after not coming to see me for weeks, arrived with four valentines!
