High Park in South West Toronto is a gem of an urban park, providing a natural refuge from the City.

The park is a mixed deciduous and evegreen forest.

Laguna La Restinga Nature Preserve was just opening up in 1996, when we visited there. The guides were not particularly well-trained and did not speak English. (My Spanish is rudimentary), but the views and the tour through the mangrove swamps was unique. We saw extensive mangrove swamps, sea stars, birds, and fish during our tour.
