My first post in a long long time - my photography Mojo has never entirely come back - I'm hoping some Flickring can help me get back into it.

I recently took two weeks out in Tuscany - but before I got there me and my girlfriend took a tour through the west country (wierdly we were 100 odd miles east of where we live but it was apparently still the west country) including glastonbury where I shot the Tor.

A little bit of an experiment which doesn't show perfectly in Flickr due to it's width. This is a (12 shot) stitched panoramic of St. Ives harbour. It isn't perfect - but the slightly bendy horizon gives a cartoon feel which suits St. Ives. The finished image reminds me of the early work of Seb West, a St. Ives artist, which kind of shows how much his lino print images caught the spirit of the place.

Anyway considering it's many imperfections it is still one of my favourite shots for a long time, just because it was fun. And it has definitely re-lit my fire for photography.

Hope all is well with my friends and contacts on here. I finished my race last week in 1:20 which was my target time and not that bad for ten miles. I have a shorter race around marazion this weekend which I will enjoy a lot more!

I finally went out for a proper shoot yesterday - this was my favourite of my shots, well actually it's 4 shots stitched together. There is very little processing here - I just hit the grey scale button in lightroom!

I am slightly regretting visiting the windy Cornish coast yesterday as I now have a cold which doesn't sit well with my 10 mile running race tomorrow - but at least I have an excuse if I miss my target time now!

...to 2011. The first time I have really touched my camera in a month. Still lacking inspiration and I am thinking about having a break from Landscapes rather than photography as a whole. There just doesn't seem to be any good light anywhere! I like the forms in the sand here though.

At least my running has benefitted from the stagnation of my photography.

I like how the detail is almost clearer in the reflection here. But the lack of colour during winter gets me down. I'm having one of my less creative spells - I have come to accept these as part of my photography - I need to get bored to refind my inspiration! I'm waiting until the sunsets are at a better time for me to catch them.

Lots of people put up photo's of their incredible kit. Unfortunately I use a D40 which cost £200 and so I don't think any illustration is required. But my second most important piece of kit is my car which is essential for a landscape photographer in Cornwall. Our county is badly served by buses which only reach many areas once a week and the most unspoilt areas are completely unserved.

My Car is called Bianca (rough around the edges and temperamental, so obviously female), a Peugeot 306 2.0 HDi Estate in white. She cost me £400 (well actually I swapped her for my last car, a Fiesta called Ethel). She has been around France with me and so far has never let me down. Last night on the way to a gig she passed a landmark many cars will never reach - 250,000 miles (400,000+ km). I am fairly attached to this car, all my cars have character (aka. faults), but this one has the most. I thought this was worthy of a post.

I haven't managed to get out the last couple of weeks and have been nursing a running inhury this weekend. I can't wait until xmas stops taking up so much of my time! Hope you are all well and hope to be posting more regularly soon!

From the archives as I haven't got out for a serious shoot in a few weeks now. This is very similar to another shot at the same location, 'Martyr', but here I am facing west to catch sunset rather than east towards Porthtowan.

FF Ingrid found the following information on the location for me:

"The concrete chimney with its brick-lined flue, comes from a boiler house which was attached to a steam pumping engine; this in turn serviced the shaft covered by the large square concrete 'bat castle'. This is all that remains of Vivian's or Ladder Shaft, part of the Huel Tye mine, which was amalgamated with West Huel Towan and closed in 1927".

I took a whole load of shots yesterday at Watergate Bay in the snow, only I had autofocus turned off unknowingly. This was the only rescuable image.

Was such an amazing drive from Falmouth and then down the A3075 - was a winter wonderland. And lunch at Fifteen was great too.

Hope you are all good. I ran the Falmouth Mobmatch today (running race) - I'm not sure where I finished but I did the 5 miles in 40 minutes dead on which was exactly my target time. Way too cold for running though!

Just a quick post from Marazion after a day in Penzance shopping yesterday. It was on of the few times I really wish I had a wider lens - normally I quite like the challenge of fitting everying in with 18mm.

The pepperpot is a huer's hut. From here the town Huer would watch for shoals of fish passing in nearby waters. When a catch was sighted he would call out to the fisherman who would launch their boats.

Even more interesting is that Laurence Binyon wrote the poem "For the Fallen" while sitting at this spot, it will be familiar to anyone who has been to a Remembrance Day ceremony:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

From Portreath in the rain a few weeks ago. Just as I was leaving I noticed the rain had washed mud into the river and this was trickling across the beach - I took my camera out again...

My first infrared shot for a while - taken at St. Uny's church in Lelant - I love this place right by the sea. I always think my Hoya infrared filter suits ruins, graveyards and churches.

I am finding my second hobby/activity, running, is taking more of my time at the moment, I intend to run the Cornish Grand prix, a 15 race running championship - I must find time for photography though and will be out this week!
