Processed in Lr and Ps to cool the color tones on the water, while warming the tones on the autumn leaves in the background.

I also increased clarity over the water because it makes the reflections look amazing.

Another one that's been on my to-edit list. I loved her expression and the pose on the rock, but the light was wrong from this angle. On top of that, I blew the focus. But I took a crack at it in Lr and Ps anyway, to see if I could salvage an image.

In Lr I enhanced color and contrast, and used the adjustment brush to even out the shadows on her face.

I also tweaked the water by using an adjustment brush to paint the white balance cooler, increase the clarity, and increase the highlights.

I also pulled up the black point of the blue channel using a tone curve, just because I like blue shadows.

Shiriyaki Onsen - Gunma Prefecture, Japan

Fun Fact: in Japanese, shiriyaki mean "burn your butt" and onsen means "hot spring." The name suits, because there are certain places in the pool where very hot water flows out from between the rocks.

This hot spring is in a section of a river where a small dam allows the water to pool. It's a mixed bathing hot spring, where men and women may bathe together. In some places in the pool the water gets to about 5 feet deep, or roughly 152 centimeters.

In winter, the cold air and heavy snow give the hot spring an almost magical atmosphere, as steam from the hot water floats into the air.

It's amazing how differemt shooting angles totally changed the colors in these shots. From some angles, the clear sky gave the water a few blue tone. From other angles, the mix of green leaves, and leaves starting to change colors, gave the look you see in this image.

I shot all of these on the same white balance, and have been processing to emphasize the colors that I find in the image.

The trail up Cowles Mountain was packed with New Year's Resolutions. I wonder how many people make the climb in November?

I took a risk with some shallow dof portraits. Kinda hard to get it right with the water moving both of us. Most of my attempts are too far out of focus to be usable, but I like this one. Shooting in the middle of a river is never easy I guess.

No matter how I look at it, there are only two colors in this photo. And isn't green just yellow in a bad mood? There have been plenty of times in my life where yellow got pissed off and turned green.

I suppose I could try it in b/w… I've been staring at a screen for far too long today.
