Day 034: Engulfed by Nightfall

Ahaha, I forgot about my 365 until about 11:00 pm. I was literally moving at the speed of light in order to get this picture done; I set up a blank wall, lighting, black backdrop, and got dressed in a matter of minutes. I didn't really have a concept for this, I just wanted to play with lighting. It was originally going to be left black but I found a picture in my archives that went nicely with this picture and this was the end result...

Today was one of those days where I couldn't function anymore. I literally had plans for the whole day today but I was just too overwhelmed to do anything so I went home and passed out in bed... Originally I didn't like this photo but after playing around and editing, it kind of grew on me.

This was probably one of the earliest 365s that I did. I took it as soon as I got up in the hotel. The rest of my roommates were still sleeping. We stayed on the 7th floor of our hotel and the view was great; I used it to my advantage and got the 365 out of the way early so I would have time to concentrate at the xc meet... and have fun at Hershey Park afterward.

I wanted to incorporate some color in today's picture because I tend to like black and white or monochromatic color schemes in my photographs. The picture was mainly inspired by the watch (Nixon Newton) so I mixed paints until I got a similar blue color as the watch. I made the blue pop by making the background and my skin tone lighter through editing. I actually have a few more that I really like from this set so I might put those up a bit later.

I had an extremely long day. Most of it consisted of school and a very long bus ride. I went with the cross country team to the Penn Track XC meet. We got there late because of traffic, the team did a quick preview of the course, we got dinner, then we went to our hotel. This was taken on the steps in the hotel by the lobby area.

So...I hate school, lol. I was(still am) doing an essay for class and almost forgot completely about my 365...it's only the first day too! On top of that I had to resort to a mirror pic because time was not on my side, you can't do any worst then that :[

Well this picture didn't have much thought in it either... I've tried to lock myself in my room all day so I would read this book; it didn't work that well. Don't get me wrong, I kinda like it, I just don't have time to read it. I got about 1/3 of it done and I only have one day left til school starts so I'm going to be reading this right now and most of my time tomorrow... good night :P

I'm actually happy with today's 365, for once. I had a lot of pictures from today that I liked... I'll make an album for it if I ever get the time to edit the rest of them.

I got the weirdest looks from people today. I had to buy the balloons and get them blown up with helium at the grocery store. Then I was running around the parking lot chasing the balloons and trying to get them in my car. People literally just stopped what they were doing and stared at me because I seemed like a crazy moron... Then I got home and got dressed up and ran around my neighborhood with a bunch of black balloons. People kept slowing down and trying to see what I was doing... This little "forest" part that you see in the picture was literally right next to the road.

Wow... this is BS. Just in case you didn't know I'll say it again! BS! I'm so behind in everything, school's gonna start, I've been going to cross country practices, and going to job interviews too. I literally took this in a min and put it up, I just don't have time to try today, sorry. Consider this a preview for tomorrow's picture. I want to use black balloons for tomorrow's 365.

Today was a long day; I got up really early and came home really late again. I'm completely worn out. I couldn't even come up with anything new. This is basically another version of yesterdays picture that I took today using the same lighting setup. Enough said, I'm tired, good night :P

I felt like playing with lighting today. I've always wanted to do a photo like this where one half was lit and the other half was completely concealed by the dark. I've been trying to do this for a while now but just couldn't get the lighting right but today with the help of the most makeshift DIY lighting; it worked! All it took was some black and white paper and a black plastic shopping bag... and tape :D

I had one of the longest days ever today… well, it felt like it anyways. I got up supper early and got home really late, I just wanted to pass out but I had a 365 to do… As you can tell from my other pictures recently I’ve been in a “colorless” mood. I thought I would use color today but that didn’t work out so well, the picture is still pretty saturated and it’s still dark. I can’t get out of this depressing 365 picture thing I started. Most of the photos are pretty “dark” and almost none of them are “cheerful.” Todays’ photo was inspired by how tired I feel at this very moment and it kind of turned into an emotional panic which I kind of like for this photo.

I wanted to do this picture yesterday but I thought I would run out of time to edit so I took it and edited it today. However, it turned out to be a very quick edit and only took me a couple of mins. I wanted it to be very surreal and childlike; I couldn’t really find a lot of props laying around the house today so I just used what I had. I basically just wanted to play around with photoshop so I enlarged my head to make it bobblehead-like.

As you can see I've been in a very... "gray" type of mood, for lack of a better term. There's not much to say, I've been busy, tired, worn out, and dead. I have a bunch of events and plans coming up, not to mention school is going to start soon and I feel like I haven't accomplished much this summer at all. It also feels like I've hit a creative wall and now I don't know what to do anymore, but in the end I have to just push through it I guess.

I ran out of time today and took this last minute because my brother decided to take all the props that I wanted to used today. I spent forever trying to find them all. In the end, I’m not really happy with how today’s picture turned out and I don’t really have much to say about it because I’m just tired and angry that my brother took my stuff.

Living in Black, So... It's been ‎33 days, 2 hours, and 37 minutes since my camera broke, got packed, shipped away, repaired, and finally returned to me. My 365 project was put on hold because I was cameraless but now I have it back so the project is back on. I did not give up just in case you were wondering... Not having my camera felt like having a child who broke it's arm and was rushed to the hospital. I literally went crazy for a while because I felt a need to take pictures everywhere I went and eventually I just stopped going out when I didn't need to.

Today was another really busy day... I've been gone all day. Honestly, I had no idea what to do for today's picture; I got home around 10 and didn't really have time to take pictures til about 11. I took 5 pictures and literally used all of them in this pic. There were no extras to choose from. I normally would of spent longer editing something like this but it's another 15 min edit simply because I ran out of time...

So...today's photo was a bit late, but think of it this way; I had to wait til it was dark out and then I had to write/draw all of this blindly in the air with a flashlight...with a one minute exposure time. So it was both a race against time and correctness. You can't even imagine how many times I had to do this... There was probably an easier way but... I was stubborn and wanted to write it all in one shot.

A drop in the ocean is an organization I'm working with right now started by Charles Coats and a few other hard-working individuals who want to make a difference by raising $10,000 dollars for different causes concerning the oil spill. We are currently planing fundraisers for the first two weeks in August which include a dance party, rave, benefit show, pancake breakfast, car-washes, and flocking. We'll have more information on everything as the day gets closer and we'd love to see you all there making a difference and having a good time... Visit the facebook group at
