Yesterday morning i spent my walk about time looking for local Orangetips with no success, but this morning the temperature was a little higher and i found one that sat up nicely.

Weather is grim but as its overcast it helps the exposure of this Green Veined White butterfly.

To cold to fly so i got lucky with its pose :-)

A good crop of Bluebells seem hard to come by locally at the moment, so here is a single one back lit .. when we had a wee bit of sun :-).

Exposure - 0.003 sec (1/320)
Aperture - f/4.0
Focal Length - 300 mm
ISO Speed - 160
Exposure Bias - 0 EV

Treetop Whitethroat

Early morning with the Whitethroats again.Light was awful for a while but then the sun rose and broke through the clouds behind me though still leaving me shooting into a complete white sky.
.
The wind was almost gale force , so that in itself makes this image all the more pleasing as i was quite shocked how well this came out.

This image is from around 12m and blowing around like mad in the windswept tree top.

Settings: 1/500th ,ƒ/8 ,ISO 360 ,420 mm , Exposure Bias +5/3 EV , Nikon D7000 and Nikon 300mm F4 with Kenko converter x1.4 , Handheld.

Focus was a little tricky here and only had a very small window through the gorse, but think i just about got it ok.

Far from being an expert im guessing a Smooth Newt but could this really be an immature Great Crested Newt.

Found in my garden under the ponds filter box.This image has been taken with a macro lens and in my hand.

The Newt has since been replaced in the same place as found and left to be as it was.

Incredible bright orange belly with black spots up to and including the throat.

Any ideas people ?

A round trip cycle ride at 4am for a sunrise of about 7-8 miles proved to be a bit of a non starter, but i did come away with a couple of images...not what i set out for here but possibly the best out of the bunch.

Ipswich Water Front - Blue Hour

Testing my new lens out along the Ipswich waterfront.
The Nikon 17-55 F2.8

Here a 15 second exposure and could done with the hood on really to stop the stray light - but i actually quite like it.

So far very pleased with the lens, its something i've wanted for a long time and now i'm glad i got it after much deliberation .

An encounter with the frogs... they are everywhere at the moment, everywhere i went...they were there......
I got wet getting this one, the only one to confide in me but i was up a bank so i lent over with my camera in live view and hoping for the best while my camera was perched horizontally with the water...... risky, but got the shot i wanted.
