So, as (some) of you know, I’ve been in quite the artistic “funk” for a while. I have been completely unable to take my inspiration and translate it into anything artistic. I think a huge part of that reason is that I was not able to formulate what was inspiring me, or fascinating me rather, into words. Over the past week or so I’ve had a wonderful wave of “realizations” hit me, and I’ve been able to put what is inspiring me to words.
This series is supposed to question the line of where femininity ends and a perceived “helpless-ness” begins. I’ve been really interested in femininity and how it can be portrayed as sexual, and at the same time make one vulnerable. Also, I’ve been interested in dream like imagery with a lot of glitter and sparkles and what not. I think it’s interesting that other artists use glitter in their photo’s to turn a moment that could have been tragic into something “beautiful”. I’m still trying to figure out why people are always trying to romanticize tragedy, and whether or not it’s a good or bad thing. Either way, I’m glad that I was able to create something, and I think I’m definitely headed in a different direction with my work.
