Revision for my exams is full steam ahead, I've replied to my university offers, and my last day of high school ever is fast approaching - less than a fortnight to go now!

Everything seems to be moving rather quickly, but I haven't been able to resist a couple of trips out to catch the sunset seeing as the evenings are getting brighter. I'm really going to miss this beautiful island when I head off to university...

There have been some pretty darn amazing skies on the Isle of Man lately. Shame it's too cold to go for a nice long walk and I have too much revision to do to just spend all my time taking pictures.

Spring Snow

We've had some pretty unusual weather here on the Isle of Man in the last week, with plenty of snow covering the majority of the island. A rather odd way to start our spring school holidays indeed!

Exam season is looming yet again, with my final A level exams fast approaching. I guess this means my presence on here will be even more scarce than usual, but once my exams are over I'm determined to get looking through all your photostreams again (as well as get out and take some more photos in some different locations for a change).

Baldwin Reflections

The weather on the island was beautiful today, so Jess and I decided to make the most of it and headed out to the Baldwin reservoir for some photos. It resulted in a fantastic few hours wandering across the countryside and snapping hundreds of photos.

If it weren't for Jess' decision to stop and get some more pictures at the other end of the reservoir before driving home, then this photo (and many others of the stunning reflections!) wouldn't have existed. Sometimes there are days where everything just seems to fall in to place :)

My winter exams have finally finished and now begins the wait for my results in a couple of months. Hopefully I've done well! In the mean time I can carry on being excited about now having four university offers from Lancaster, Sheffield, Kent and Keele - just waiting to hear something back from York now! :)

Today was the final day of the winter holidays off school before plenty of exams over the next month! Jess and I went on a little photo adventure to round off the holidays and, despite the overcast weather, managed to grab some sweet photos. It had been really foggy earlier on but unfortunately it didn't stick around for us.

Jess is an awesome friend who's really getting in to photography lately, so I definitely recommend you check out her Flickr. It's great having a friend who shares one of your hobbies, and she's so eager to learn whenever I tell her about a new technique or show her how to do something with her camera.

This is an expansion using the Brenizer method, where I've stitched together 12 different photos, all shot at f/1.8 with my Nikkor 50mm. I've only ever tried it properly a couple of times, each of those times with Jess as the willing model, and hopefully I'll keep improving it.

The fabulous Manannan Mac Lir statue, constructed for Mannifest Music Festival 2012.

This is a long exposure shot from the first night of the festival. The way the floodlighting illuminated the area and the figures surrounding the towering structure was too good to not take a photo of.

Life's been a bit hectic lately. It was nice to get out and take photos with Esther. We weren't expecting much whilst we were out at the plantation because the sky was rather overcast, but once we reached the top of the hill we were greeted by this marvellous surprise view!

I've been looking at investing in a new, wider lens for some time now, so imagine my happiness when a friend's dad offered to let me have a go of their Sigma 10-20mm! I managed to get out in to the beautiful Manx countryside this weekend to have a go of the lens and my, my, my am I pleased with the shots I got! It was so refreshing to have a much wider angle of view to take photos and take in all the drama of the sky...

On a rare sunny day this summer I ventured out in to the Manx countryside for a couple of hours and had a lovely walk... This was taken in the area surrounding the Conhrenny Plantation, possibly my favourite place ever. The views are stunning and were enhanced so much by the deep blue sky and crisp white clouds.

The summer holidays come to an end next week and I've not even made a proper start on the massive project I had planned... I took one photo for the project and it was more spontaneous than thought out, but this project will be completed at some point!

It left me feeling incredibly inspired, as it always does.

Mountain Views III

It's been a while since I uploaded anything! School has seriously taken up so much of my time, but I'm enjoying the challenge :) I hope you're all well too!

A couple of things have changed in recent weeks...
I turned 17 back on the 20th and I passed my driving test almost a month ago!!
This extra little bit of freedom is definitely making me feel much more inspired.

I lost the desire to take photos for a short while recently, I've just been worrying about schoolwork and trying to get all the work done whilst realising exams are only a month or so away... But I think things are starting to get a little easier now, I'm starting to get more in to the swing of things and the fact exams are looming is forcing me to try and get more work done. It's weird thinking I was like this last year with GCSEs nearing, but now the work is a lot harder.

My English coursework is helping me look at photography again though, what with the style of creative writing I'm doing, although I'm so glad I didn't take photography as an A level, I would've completely lost my love for it, I'm sure.

Well, it's that time of year again. Christmas and New Year celebrations have been and passed and now everyone's preparing for the challenges the next 12 months will present... I've got a pretty important year ahead of me, and hopefully this time next year, who knows, I might've put in my application for university and heard back from one or two... But for now I'm focusing on my AS levels this summer.

This was taken last summer following my GCSEs and I recently discovered it sitting on my computer. Funnily enough, this has turned in to one of my favourites of 2011. This simple shot is a refreshing change from the HDR shots I've been doing lately really.

I ordered a 50mm 1.8G the other day and I'm getting so excited about it arriving!

A lot of my photography latey has been landscapes, and although it's refreshing doing something different, I'm really happy to be planning some portrait shoots in the near future.

Visited the Baldwin Reservoir a couple of times this past week. It's definitely one of my favourite places. The view of the sunset from the hillside was beautiful - I got quite a few shots which I'll post in the comments.

This shot is from a while ago, but I could never quite decide whether I liked it or not...
Flickr sharpening has not been kind to this shot.

Exams are going ok at the moment, I'm just struggling with getting everything to sink in. Ah well, I've done 5 exams and have 9 left to do. It's just History that's really concerning me.

Motivation: this time next month I'll be free and can enjoy myself!
