The march finished at speaker's corner in Hyde Park, where the marchers listened to speakers and took part in a Gay Liberation Front Gay Day.

Gay rights demonstration (possibly in Trafalgar Square?) including members of the Gay Liberation Front (GLF.

The GLF held its first meeting in a basement classroom at the London School of Economics on 13th October 1970. It was inspired by the US GLF movements, which aimed to gain equal rights for the LGBT communities on an unapologetic basis. The organisation was very informal, having no designated structure, and organised marches, "gay days", street theatre performances, sit-ins and produced a journal entitled 'Come Together'. These activities led to the first Gay Pride March in 1972.

Emanuel Shinwell, 1918

Emanuel Shinwell (1884-1986) (standing), socialist and Labour MP, with J Samond (agent) and Hugh M[?]nin (miners leader) at an election meeting in 1918.

Shinwell was born in London, but moved to Glasgow with his family when he was 11. He was a socialist and campaigned with trade unions for the 40 hour week before being elected as Labour MP for Linlithgow in 1922. Shinwell served as financial secretary for the War Office in 1929, Secretary for Mines (1930-1931), Minister for Fuel and Power (1945-1947), Secretary of State for War (1947-1950), Minister of Defence (1950-1951) and was made a Baron in 1970.

George Lansbury (1859-1940), politician, on a motorbike. Lansbury was Labour MP for Bromley and Bow 1910-1912 and 1922-1940, and leader of the Labour Party 1931-1935. He was a major supporter of equal rights and votes for women and led the Poplar Rates Rebellion in 1921 whilst mayor of Poplar.

Lansbury was Labour MP for Bromley and Bow 1910-1912 and 1922-1940, and leader of the Labour Party 1931-1935. He was a major supporter of equal rights and votes for women and led the Poplar Rates Rebellion in 1921 whilst mayor of Poplar.

Charles Samuel Myers (1873-1946), psychologist and founder and first director of the National Institute of Industrial Psychology. (NIIP).

The NIIP was a non-profit making scientific organisation for the study of industry and commerce. It aimed to promote the application of psychology and physiology within these fields. The Institute conducted research into problems of general interest to the industrial and commercial sector, and published the results. It also undertook research into the problems of particular organisations and suggested solutions

Graham Wallas (seated left), with Harold Laski (right), Walter Lippmann and an unidentified woman in the USA.

Graham Wallas (1858-1932), political scientist, was one of the founders of the London School of Economics (along with George Bernard Shaw and Sidney and Beatrice Webb) and the School's first Professor of Political Science. He retired in 1923.

Harold Laski (1893-1950) lectured at McGill, Harvard and Yale Universities before joining LSE in 1920. He became Professor of Political Science in 1926 and stayed at LSE until his death in 1950.

Walter Lippmann (1889-1974) was an American Pullitzer Prize-winning journalist, philosopher and media and political commentator who studied under Wallas at Harvard.
