Eguisheim (German: Egisheim) is proud of its picturesque and concentric narrow streets lined with colorful half-timbered houses and rich floral decoration. When looking at a photo of Eguisheim taken from above, it is easy to be amazed by the shape of this small medieval city, which was built in three concentric circles around his castle. Eguisheim lies in the Haut-Rhin département of Alsace (France) a few kilometers south of Colmar. The village centre is very picturesque and receives many tourists, as the Alsace "Wine Route" passes the village. This city surrounded by vineyards plunges the visitor into the middle of the Renaissance. The commune is largely German-speaking.
Eguisheim was the birthplace of Pope Leo IX on June 21, 1002.

Eguisheim (Duits: Egisheim) is een klein schilderachtig stadje in de Franse Elzas.
De grotendeels Duitstalige gemeente, enkele kilometers ten zuiden van Colmar, heeft een oppervlak van 14,2 km² en het aantal inwoners is circa 1550. Eguisheim ligt aan de wijnroute ( "Route des Vins Alsace") midden in een van de mooiste druivengaardgebieden van de Elzas.
In het stadje met haar middeleeuwse sfeer staan veel oude en kleurrijke vakwerkhuizen, die in drie ringvormige smalle straatjes rondom een dorpsplein met burcht en kapel zijn aangelegd. Het is een van de mooiste stadjes in de Elzas.
Paus Leo IX werd hier als Bruno, graaf van Egisheim en Dagsburg, in 1002 geboren.

Eguisheim (German: Egisheim) is a commune in the Haut-Rhin département of Alsace, France, notable for, and largely devoted to, producing Alsace wine of high quality. Egisheim lies a few kilometers south of Colmar. The village centre is very picturesque and receives many tourists, as the Alsace "Wine Route" passes the village.
The uniqueness of this city, which dates back to the Middle Ages, lies in the winding streets which are abundant with flowers as well as in the beauty of the surrounding countryside. The commune is largely German-speaking.
The commune was the birthplace of Pope Leo IX on June 21, 1002.

Eguisheim (Duits: Egisheim) is een dorp en gemeente in het Franse departement Haut-Rhin in de regio Elzas. De gemeente heeft een oppervlak van 14,2 km² en het aantal inwoners is 1541 (2004). Eguisheim ligt enkele kilometers ten zuiden van Colmar.
Eguisheim ligt aan de Route des vins d'Alsace.
In het dorp staan nog veel oude vakwerkhuizen, die in ringvormige straten rondom het dorpsplein met burcht en kapel zijn aangelegd.

Snowy moorland

Snow near the Posbank, part of National Park 'De Veluwezoom', located in the Dutch province of Gelderland, north and east of Arnhem. It is an area of 50 square kilometers at the southeastern edge of the Veluwe, a complex of terminal push moraines from the Saalian glaciation.
It has a pronounced relief by dutch standards, with the highest point in the park at 110 meters above sea level. The landscape of the park consists of forests and heathland.

Besneeuwde heidevelden nabij natuurgebied de Posbank in de Veluwezoom
De Posbank bij Rheden is de naam van een monument en uitkijkpunt op de rand van een met heide begroeide stuwwal op de zuidelijke Veluwe. Het monument ligt op een hoogte van 90 m boven NAP, van waaraf een uitzicht mogelijk is over het IJsseldal, de Achterhoek en de Liemers tot in Duitsland.
Ter vergelijking: het hoogste punt op de Veluwe is het nabijgelegen "Signaal Imbosch" (110 m).
De Posbank is onderdeel van Nationaal Park "De Veluwezoom", een natuurgebied van 5000 hectare noordoostelijk van Arnhem. De Posbank is in de volksmond vaak ook de benaming van het heidegebied waarin het ligt. De eigenlijke naam van het heidegebied is echter Herikhuizerveld.

National Park 'De Veluwezoom' is located in the Dutch province of Gelderland, northeast of Arnhem. It is an area of 50 square kilometers at the southeastern edge of the Veluwe, a complex of terminal push moraines from the Saalian glaciation.

Beekhuizenseweg in Nationaal Park 'De Veluwezoom'
Nationaal Park "De Veluwezoom" is een natuurgebied van 5000 hectare noordoostelijk van Arnhem.
Bij sneeuwval en andere winterse omstandigheden is de Beekhuizenseweg doorgaans de enige vrij toegankelijke toegangsweg tot de Postbank, en dan alleen de route vanaf De Steeg tot de Postbank.

Old Street in Dinan (France)

Rue du Jerzual in Dinan (Brittany, France)
Dinan in northeastern Brittany is a wonderful and romantic medieval city.
The little medieval town (population about 11,700) on the hilltop above the Rance River has many fine old half timbered buildings dating from the 13th - 16th centuries, with cobbled rambling streets, all carefully restored and preserved.
The town retains a large section of the city walls, part of which can be walked around.

Rue du Jerzual in Dinan (Bretagne, Frankrijk)
Dinan ligt het noordoosten van Bretagne, ruim 30 km zuidelijk van Saint Malo.
Het prachtige en romantische middeleeuwse stadje (bevolking ongeveer 11.700) ligt op een heuvel boven de rivier de Rance. Het oude centrum van de stad is omgeven door een middeleeuwse stadsmuur met poorten. In het centrum en langs de met keitjes geplaveide straten zijn nog veel vakwerkhuizen uit de 13e tot 16e eeuw te vinden.
Rue du Jerzual in Dinan is de door touristen drukst bezochte en meest gefotografeerde straat van Bretagne. Het schilderachtige straatje loopt hier steil naar beneden naar de rivier de Rance. Door een regenbui, kort voor deze opname, was er niemand op straat.

With its cobbled winding streets and its flower-decked traditional medieval half-timbered houses, Eguisheim is one of Alsace's most attractive villages.
Who could fail to fall under the spell of this charming village, in which time almost seems to have stood still. The town is particularly known for its round layout, following the former lines of its ramparts.
When strolling through its streets, visitors often stop to admire the many houses dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, some of which have magnificent courtyards.
In the main square, a statue of Pope Leo IX reminds us that Alsace's only Pope originated from this village (born: June 21, 1002). The commune is largely German-speaking.

Picturesque Riquewihr

Riquewihr is a wonderful and romantic little medieval city hidden between the Vosges mountains and some of the most famous vineyards in the Haut-Rhin départment in Alsace in northeastern France. Riquewihr (German: Reichenweier or Reichenweyer), a popular tourist attraction for its historical architecture, is the jewel in the crown - famous for the Riesling and other great Alsace wines produced here - and looks today exactly as it did in the 16th Century, is only 11,3 km from Colmar and minutes from other famous alsatian villages like Ribeauvillé, Hunawihr, Eguisheim or Kaysersberg.

Riquewihr is een prachtig klein middeleeuws stadje oostelijk van het laaggebergte, de Vogezen, en tussen de mooiste wijngaarden in noordoostlijk Frankrijk in het departement Haut-Rhin in de regio Elzas.
Riquewihr (Duits: Reichenweiher of Reichenweyer) is populair bij toeristen om de historische 16e eeuwse architectuur en wijnen als de Riesling en andere Elzaswijnen.
Riquewihr ligt 11,3 km noordelijk van Colmar en enkele minuten van andere beroemde Elzas stadjes als Ribeauvillé, Hunawihr, Eguisheim en Kaysersberg.

Rue de la Prison in Honfleur with Musee d’Ethnographie et d’Art Populaire, housed in the old prison and 16th century houses, is a Norman Folk Museum, with traditional rooms and costumes.
Honfleur is a small picturesque 16th century fishing town with slate fronted houses crowded round a little beautiful scenic port (le Vieux Bassin).
Honfleur, in the Norman département of Calvados in France, is located on the southern bank of the estuary of the Seine, across from Le Havre.
The estuary of the Seine has always exercised its fascination on numerous artists : painters, writers, musicians ... Amongst them William Turner, Johan Jongkind, Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet, Charles Baudelaire, Erik Satie ...

Rue de la Prison in Honfleur met Musee d’Ethnographie et d’Art Populaire, gehuisvest in de oude gevan- genis en 16e eeuwse huizen, is een Normandische Volsksmuseum, met traditionele kamers en kostuums.
Honfleur is een klein schilderachtig 16de-eeuws vissersstadje gelegen op de zuidoever aan de monding van de Seine in het Normandische departement Calvados in Frankrijk, tegenover Le Havre. Honfleur is vooral bekend om haar kleine prachtige haven (le Vieux Bassin), gekenmerkt door zijn huizen met de bedekte voorgevels van leien.
De monding van de Seine, heeft altijd zijn fascinatie uitgeoefend op tal van artiesten: schilders, schrijvers, muzikanten, waaronder William Turner, Johan Jongkind, Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet, Charles Baudelaire, Erik Satie.

Café du Coiffeur J. Vincent

Half-timbered Cafe du Coiffeur in the lovely country village Beuvron-en-Auge in the Pays d'Auge, in the Calvados department of Basse-Normandy, France. The total population is about 225.
Beuvron-en-Auge is classified with the label of 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de France' (The most beautiful villages of France). Almost every house is in the gorgeous multicoloured half-timbered style for which Normandy is famous. The buildings date back to the 17th century and there is a beautiful manor house dating back to the 15th century.

'Les Plus Beaux Villages de France' (The most beautiful villages of France) is an independent association, created in 1982, which aims to promote assets of small and picturesque French villages of quality heritage. As of 2008, 152 villages in France have been labelled as 'les Plus Beaux Villages de France.
There are a few criteria before entering the association: the population of the village must not exceed 2,000 inhabitants, there must be at least 2 protected areas (picturesque or legendary sites, or sites of scientific, artistic or historic interest), and the decision to candidate must be taken by the town council.

Cafe du Coiffeur in Beuvron-en-Auge in de kenmerkende vakwerkstijl voor Normandië.
Beuvron-en-Auge is een schitterend schilderachtig dorpje, dat met 152 andere dorpen is gekwalificeerd als een van ‘Les plus beaux villages de France’ (De mooiste dorpen van Frankrijk). Het dorp telt ongeveer 225 inwoners en ligt in het Pays d'Auge, een streek in het Franse departement Calvados (regio Laag-Normandië).
Beuvron-en-Auge was tot de 18e eeuw eeuwenlang eigendom van de familie Harcourt, die er een kasteel had. Het kasteel is verwoest. Aan het marktplein en in de hoofdstraat bevinden zich meer dan 40 Normandische vakwerkhuizen uit de 17e en 18e eeuw. Het Vieux Manoir is een landhuis in vakwerk uit de 15e eeuw.

Eguisheim (Duits: Egisheim) is een dorp en gemeente in het Franse departement Haut-Rhin in de regio Elzas. De gemeente heeft een oppervlak van 14,2 km² en het aantal inwoners is 1541 (2004).
Eguisheim ligt enkele kilometers ten zuiden van Colmar aan de Route des vins d'Alsace.
In het dorp staan nog veel oude vakwerkhuizen uit de 16e en 17e eeuw, sommige met fraaie binnenplaatsen, die in ringvormige straten rondom het dorpsplein met burcht en kapel zijn aangelegd. De rond lopende straten volgen de lijnen van oude stadsmuren.
Paus Leo IX werd hier als Bruno, graaf van Egisheim en Dagsburg, in 1002 geboren.
In het stadje wordt vooral Duits gesproken.

Brugmansia is a genus of six species of flowering plants in the family Solanaceae, native to subtropical regions of South America, along the Andes from Colombia to northern Chile, and also in southeastern Brazil.
They are known as Angel's Trumpets, sharing that name with the closely related genus Datura. Brugmansia differs from Datura in being perennial and woody (Datura species are herbaceous), and in having pendulous (not erect) flowers.
The name Angel's Trumpet refers to the large, very dramatic, pendulous trumpet-shaped flowers, 14–50 cm long and 10–35 cm across at the wide end.
They are white, yellow, pink, orange or red, and have a delicate, attractive scent with light, lemony overtones, most noticeable in early evening. Flowers may be single or double.
Brugmansia are easily grown in a moist, fertile, well-drained soil, in full sun to part shade, in frost-free climates.

Eguisheim (German: Egisheim) is a commune in the Haut-Rhin département of Alsace, France, notable for, and largely devoted to, producing Alsace wine of high quality.
The village centre is very picturesque and receives many tourists, as the Alsace "Wine Route" passes the village. German is spoken almost exclusively.
The commune was the birthplace of Pope Leo IX on June 21, 1002.

Eguisheim (deutsch Egisheim, elsässisch Egsa) ist eine Gemeinde von 1.500 Einwohnern im Elsass, Frankreich. Sie liegt an der Elsässischen Weinstraße (Route des vins) wenige Kilometer südwestlich von Colmar.
Im Ort wurde 1002 Bruno von Egisheim-Dagsburg geboren, der als Leo IX. Papst wurde.
