Another moment from the trip home to Nash. This was the worst stop, I think it was somewhere in either on the outskirts of St. Louis (MO side) or in the middle of Western Kentucky. I remember it only because it was the most dirty restroom I've ever had the displeasure to visit.

However, I'm not sure why but when I saw this photo again, I could only think of the modern architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's (famous for designing in glass and steel) quote "God is in the details" ... I'm not sure it fits, but if you look in the mirror, you can see the famous arch of McDonalds and more telephone wires. Or on the side of the gas tank warning "no smoking"... I'm not sure what details I connected from this post-modern architecture to the quote about modern architecture but there you have it. The inner-workings of my head.

Do you think you could spare some change, I seem to be overloaded with change... both the literal and the metaphorical kind. This ended up being $34.07 in money to spend on Amazon.

Roundtrip this trip was 3,147 miles in a big ol' circle in two weeks time. I am looking forward to my new home and to end this time of being betwixt in-between.

These next few images are all out of order. I am trying to tell a story here and it's just not very linear.

I have now seen a lot of this country and I have to say, this type of image was really common. Large block or box stores turned back to nature.

On this leg of the journey I went from Hillsboro, KS to Abilene, TX by way of the non-toll roads. The easy way is just to take 35 all the way down, but who wants to take the easy way when you can take the fun way? I think this was about the best way to get into Texas I have ever taken. I passed through many poverty stricken small towns and many places that looked like they might just fall over with a stiff wind (which there was plenty of) or a good old fashioned push (by people, but there was a distinct lack of those). At times the roads were a narrow two lane highway without shoulders that made me want to take them at the middle. Twice, I saw a gigantic spider, I think it was a tarantula, crossing the road and thought to myself that I was really glad I was in the car and not meeting them on foot. This hum-dinger of a sign on a church was just outside of my goal destination but I had to stop and keep it forever.

These took a really long time to make, took many failed attempts and nearly made me go cross-eyed but at the end all I can say is... they are so darn stinkin cute.

Today's pollen count from the Nashville Government office was 73. Now 73 isn't so bad considering that some days last month we were so far off the chart they had to tape on additional paper to the top but over 25 is considered extremely high.

The water in this photo is also too high to use as a road.

I cleaned a little. Not a good spring clean but enough that I no longer feel that it is disgusting in this place.

I also tried to make a coconut milk version of a shamrock shake. It was a total fail. I am just drinking thick coconut milk with spearmint flavoring. It is a little like drinkable toothpaste. I still drank it.
