There were several Coyotes making the rounds in the Yosemite Valley. In an attempt to conserve energy, they mostly trotted down the road, so it was a treat to see this one in a more natural setting.

The young Cooper's Hawks seem to be fascinated with this particular dead branch. Last year's batch spent a lot of time chewing on it and grabbing it too.

California Black Bear at Crescent Meadow in Sequoia National Park. This female shot a dirty look at me after hearing a burst from my camera. I'm glad she wasn't eyeing her next meal!

A Great Egret had just wandered too close and this Great Blue Heron had to show it who's the boss. Much squawking ensued...

Friendly Feline

The young male bobcat was playing games with us last night. He was repeatedly dashing back and forth across a path. He would wait until we were looking the opposite direction, and then race across the path at full speed. I think he was playing "chicken" with the humans.

Here, he is creeping up a hillside towards us. He didn't seem bother by us watching, and we got to see him catch at least three rodents. The fun part was watching him play with them. (I'm pretty sure they were dead, in case you're wondering.) He would throw them high in the air and then go bounding after. He seemed to be having a wonderful time.
