There are numerous old buildings on the side of country roads around here, and I always wonder what stories these building could tell, and what caused the final inhabitants to just up and leave..

Elk Island, Alberta, and I was fortunate to come across this Elk in a field close to the road when there was no one else around. This was really my first chance to photograph a Bull Elk so there are a few shots in this set. 700_5681

Jasper Lake

This is east of Jasper, just off Hwy 16, and is a view I had longed to photograph. This past August an opportunity presented itself. Changed to B&W , as the lake is very shallow, with sand dunes, and located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains!

Located 30 km S. of Jasper on the Columbia Ice Field Parkway, these falls are readily accessible from the highway and are stunning no matter the season. Wife tells me to ensure I take a similar shot in the summer for a comparison. There is still water flowing thru the falls, although there is a lot of ice, which gave me reminders of the movie "The Day After Tomorrow". Your comments and visits are most appreciated.

Located 30 km South of Jasper, Alberta, on the Columbia Icefields highway, these falls are just off the highway and are truly quite an amazing sight. This photo is a composite of 3, blended in Photomatix. Your visits and comments are most appreciated.

Out for a walk at Chickapoo Lk., West of Edmonton, Alberta, with my grandson and these people started to race as they came back to shore after a leisurely trip on the lake.

On the North Saskatchewan River by Devon, there are large ice/snow formations on the side of the river. I stopped by yesterday, but the sun had already set, so today I went early, and was lucky to catch the golden reflections on the water. Your visits and comments are most appreciated.

Shot these guys at Elk Island in Sept. out at Elk Island, but the background was full of other Bison milling around, so I made a composite with a stormy day shot from Akisu Hill out by Vegreville. Hope you like. As always, your visits and comments are most welcome.

The Maligne Lake boat tour is supposedly something not to be missed, but miss it we did, as it was raining and quite miserable when we got up there, so we took a rain check and headed back to Jasper.... en route, the sun broke thru the clouds and we turned a corner and were treated to this view......
