Insect Head

This guy flew into our house in San Francisco last night causing some consternation to certain human and feline members of our houshold. I am not sure what it is: it measures 33 mm (1.3 inch) head to tail. The width of the view here is about 10 mm. It has a narrow head as you see here, a bulbous, almost sperical thorax about 6mm diameter, and a long narrow abdomen.[2013-05-04-103354-insect-head]
