Yes, the very first thing I scanned, more than four years ago, was a piece of fish. Then, last year, it was shellfish that finally broke that scanner, but did I learn my lesson when I bought a rather expensive new one? NO.

Today: ingredients for 99% greenmarket chowder. Olive oil, water, and black pepper were the only ingredients that didn't come from the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket.

Nobody at the greenmarket sells flour, and I've always wondered if it's possible to make flour out of popcorn, so I ground up some popcorn and used it to thicken the soup.

They do sell bacon at the greenmarket, but Flying Pig wasn't here this week, so I substituted smoked mackerel for bacon.

I finally bought a new scanner to replace the one I broke, and this was the very first scan I made. It's a bit dark, because I hadn't found the histogram controls yet. Stil, I wanted to commemorate the first scan.
