Last year I started making kimchi and Mr Chiots and I LOVED it. The only problem was, I couldn't find the Korean peppers to use, so I used my homegrown cayennes. Since I couldn't find any, I decided I'd just have to grow them myself. I used them yesterday to make a big batch of kimchi! My kimchi recipe is now posted over on Eat Outside the Bag.
Storage Onion Crop

This year I'm growing: Copra, Zeppelin, Stuttgarter and Red Baron as my main storage onions. I'm also growing Forum as a early maturing cooking onion. I'm trying onions from seed, from sets and from plants to see which one stores the best.

The ‘Dakota’ peas produced a flush of peas and quit blooming, yesterday they were all ripped out to be replaced with cucumbers. The hot spring was hard on peas, which flourish in much cooler temps. Amazingly, the ‘Golden’ peas on the front porch are still thriving, I’ll have to remember that they’re much more heat tolerant than other kinds of peas I’ve grown.

On Sunday afternoon I went out to check on the garden since it had been a few days since I had done it. First stop was the edible garden of course and I noticed right away that there were some peas ready to harvest. I picked and picked until my pockets were full, then I made a beeline back to the house to shell them. These are the ‘Dakota’ peas that a few of you recommended.
