My Velveteen Rabbit

Alyssa L. Miller posted a photo:

I made a very short film, based on The Velveteen Rabbit, about a lonely stuffed animal who makes his way to the window of a small dorm room and opens the latch. It was 'inspired' by a person who meant the world to me, [who was, in many ways, my "velveteen rabbit"]. I hadn't read the book until it arrived in an anonymous package the day after he killed himself.

Tree of Life

This tree is called Lucy, after a brilliant young girl who died of cancer. She was one of those people who never stopped fighting, never stopped seeing, never stopped loving, never stopped giving, never stopped growing, even while everything inside of her was dying. She was like a mystical tree, boldly taking its stance in the middle of a bustling New York City. She made crowds of impatient people scurrying by to catch the next train to who-knows-where, stop, and take a second look. It's little things like that, like a mystical tree planted in the middle of a building world, that make life worth living. RIP.
