There is something so captivating to me about red banana plants. I don't know what it is; perhaps the bold slash of red in the middle of their giant leaves. Just another addition to the series; there will probably be more. This one was outside of the Mexico Pavilion in World Showcase.

The Epcot Flower and Garden Festival was coming to a close and we made one last trip just to try out the new little Oly. It was sharp and easy to use; limited, of course, by the restrictions of being a P&S, but capable within that category.

Here's the bromeliad dragon in the reflecting pool at the China Pavilion. He's gone now, but was quite the figure while he was installed. While there I looked for my prince, but only found a few little pollywogs and not much else. Maybe next time...

A cute-as-a-button 1970 Fiat 500; the original CinqueCento. This one makes the repros that are out now look spacious. Perfectly restored, but didn't find a new home. Nothing looked sadder to me than this tiny car sitting all along under a single light in the auction tent.

Here are the stats on it from Mecum:
- Restored Italian classic
- 2 cylinder air cooled motor
- 4-speed manual
- 36,276 original kilometers
- New Black folding sun roof

We took one of the parrots over to the state park for a little Memorial Day fun. While resting under a tree on the bank by the spring I noticed these three fellows enjoying the day. One seemed to be a bit of a philosopher with the declaration on his t-shirt. Seems like a bit of bravado. Not sure he'd agree if he stubbed his toe or hit his hand with a hammer...

Took the new little Oly out for a couple of hours on Monday to WDW. It performed very well and actually exceeded my expectations for a pocket camera. Now all I have to do is remember to keep it charged. It's not a DSLR replacement, but something nice to have with me all the time - just in case...

Trying out the new pocket camera. I am quite impressed with its capabilities so far, although I haven't had it out shooting yet; just around the house. It won't replace a more sophisticated DSLR, but it will be nice to have it with me at all times.

Had this one for a while but I just took a second look at it. It kind of spoke to me, so here it is.

It is a military truck that was waiting its turn on the auction block last year. It looked big and bold and very strong. I hope it went to someone that will appreciate it properly considering its service to the country.

Taken in September at the China Pavilion reflecting pool. It had just rained and the lily pads just looked perfect. Only had the phone with me, but it seems to have done the trick. Hope you like it.

A late 40s led sled. Don't recall exactly what it was, but I do know it had a fresh coat of "resale red" paint that you could still smell. She was a beauty with her lines and curves.

Beautiful plant at the exterior of the Mexico Pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase. We have several hundred bromeliads in our yard as well. They make tough, hardy, and lovely landscape plants as well as interesting photographic subjects.

The world seems a bit more inhospitable lately than normal, and this image just seemed kind of appropriate. Thorny...prickly...pointed...intolerant...dangerous... Seems to me that we can do better than this somehow.

The tree is planted outside of the Mexico Pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase. It's beautiful, but not friendly...kind of a metaphor...maybe

The quote is from a movie that is moving quickly up the ladder as one of my all-time favorites Disney or non-Disney. That is 2012's John Carter from Disney. Not as many people saw it as the movie deserved because of badly bungled marketing. Highly recommended!

The hood ornament is probably from a Cadillac, although I didn't make note of it. Anybody who has ever been to a car auction knows that there are way too many cars to keep accurate notes of parts and pieces of them.

Hope you like the ornament...and the movie!

Had to lay down and put my head in Lefty's lap to get this non-traditional shot at DHS one day. Lefty seems bemused by my efforts; however, this is very serious stuff. As you can see here.

Y'all already know it wasn't a dark and stormy night; it's just me messin' around. I liked the angle and decided to add some drama. This is the Mexico Pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase. It's based on a Mesoamerican pyramid. Beautiful on the inside with a city within a city effect and a relaxing water ride. Be nice to be there right now gliding down the river and then have dinner at the restaurant in the pavilion....might just have to grab the car keys.

Just the fender of a beautiful old Jaguar. You can see the appeal these cars had in just the bodywork alone. They certainly had fussy motors that required the presence of a live-in mechanic if you wanted to use them as daily drivers; but, the thing they had that nothing else on the road could compete with was pure sex appeal.

I can't believe I've only posted three pictures of them. If you like British rock 'n' roll then you'll love these guys; nobody does it better. They appear five days a week at the UK Pavilion at Epcot's World Showcase. Always fresh and always a good time.

1947 Kaiser 4-door sedan with 12,721 original miles! She sold for $12,000, so I guess you can figure out the math. I liked the two old timers in the windshield that were pointing back to the Kaiser; perhaps they were remembering...perhaps not... These old cars have so much mystery in their histories; you can feel the presence of the past when you stick your head in the door and take in the sights and smells of their interiors. Made me remember, too...just a little...
