Audi RS5

Afgelopen zondag was het weer het tegenovergestelde van wat het nu is. Graadje of 26 en de hele dag strakblauwe lucht aan de rand van Düsseldorf. In Vennhausen werd bij de plaatselijke voetbalclub FC Tannenhof om de 'Tannen~~mof~~hof Cup' gespeeld. Vitesse (onder 16 jaar) eindigde tweede van de twaalf Europese clubs (winst op o.a. Lokomotiv Moskou en FK Senica). Goed, genoeg over voetbal. Bovenstaande RS5 - die nu wel een beetje een voetballersauto aan het worden is - stond om de hoek in de warme zon.

Last Sunday was a good day. It was about 26 degrees and we've had blue skies all day in Düsseldorf. In Vennhausen at the local football club FC Tannenhof was held the 'Tannenhof Cup', a tournament for teams under sixteen. Vitesse (from the Dutch city Arnhem) finished second of the twelve European teams (win against Lokomotiv Moscow and FK Senica). Enough about that, because there is a German Audi RS5 in the picture above. Looking a bit like a football car, right?

Porsche Panamera GTS

Zo van 'Er is geen parkeerplaats meer vrij, dus dan maar op de stoep'. Je moet je vijf meter lange Panamera toch ergens kwijt. De spoiler uitgeklapt laten staan ziet er toch wel iets beter uit overigens.

When there's no parking space left anymore, you can always park on the sidewalk. You have to park somewhere with your five meter long Panamera, right? The extended spoiler looks pretty good by the way.

Een S5 op RS5-velgen en een immense Mercedes GL ernaast. Ook dit stond bij het trainingscentrum van FC Twente, naast het Fanny Blankers-Koen Stadion. Naar welke Duitser gaat jouw voorkeur?

A S5 with RS5 rims, next to a giant Mercedes GL-Class. Both German. Which one do you prefer? They were parked at the trainings centre of the Dutch club FC Twente.

TVR Chimaera 500

De TVR Chimaera is apart en anders (zie die achterlichten), maar onderschat de kracht niet van deze Britse sportwagen. Onderhuids ligt een V8 met 325 pk verscholen. Daarnaast rij je in een bijzondere en typisch Engelse cabrio, want hoe vaak kom je nou een Chimaera tegen?

The TVR Chimaera is different. Look at those rear lights! But do not underestimate the power of this car, because underneath the hood is a V8 with 325 hp. Beside that, you drive a special en typical Britsh convertible. Because let's be honest, how often do you see a Chimaera?

In tegenstelling tot de station zie je de RS6 Sedan haast nooit. Jammer eigenlijk, want wat is het een brute powersedan. In hartje Londen naast het Natural History Museum, meer dan drie jaar geleden alweer.

In contrast to the station version, you almost never see the RS6 Sedan. Too bad, because it's really a brutal power sedan. This was in the middle of London next to the Natural History Museum, three years ago.

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupé

Eerste keer dat ik de coupé-variant van de C-klasse in AMG-trim zie. En dat ziet er echt niet verkeerd uit!

First time that I see the coupe variant of the C-Class in AMG trim in real life. And that doesn't look bad at all!

Dit Italiaanse raspaardje zorgde er in de Königsallee weer voor dat mensen hun nek verdraaiden. Ciao bella!

Many people looked up when this Italian thoroughbred drove away from the Königsallee. Ciao bella!

Dit krijg je dus wanneer je een Fiat 500 en een Audi A1 kruist. De Adam. Haalt het wat betreft imago niet bij een 500 en de naam is ook om te huilen. Ziet er verder niet verkeerd uit, maar het had wel wat origineler gemogen.

This is what you get when you cross a Fiat 500 with a Audi A1. The Adam, with his horrible name. Does not look very bad, but it isn't very original.

De A-klasse was het lelijke eendje van Mercedes. Maar met deze nieuwe generatie 'A' schudden de Duitsers het bejaardenimago definitief van dit model af. Kijk hoe goed en sportief dit eruit ziet. De blauwe kleur doet het ook erg goed!

The A-class was first a ugly thing and was very popular among the elderly peopele. But with this new 'A' it's a totally different story. It looks cool, especially in blue, and even sportive!

Aardig aan de prijs, maar wat een geweldige wagen in de juiste kleur. En zoveel mooier als zijn voorganger. Dankzij Jarno die mij tipte over deze Zaanse autobeurs.

Quite pricey, but such a wonderful car in the right color. And more beautiful as the previous M6. Thanks to Jarno who told me about this event!

LaCalifornia in de Königsallee. Na net een heerlijke Italiaanse pizza gegeten te hebben, was dit het toetje. En twee minuten later een F430 Spider, de tweede Ferrari die dag.

LaCalifornia in the famous Königsallee. After a delicious Italian pizza, this was the dessert. Two minutes later I saw already the second Ferrari of that day, a F430 Spider.

Fisker Karma & Opel Ampera

Elektrische auto's zijn hot in Nederland, met name in hartje Amsterdam. Vooral bovenstaande twee, de Fisker Karma en de Opel Ampera zijn erg populair - samen met de misselijkmakende Nissan Leaf. Het blijft opmerkelijk hoeveel Fiskers er inmiddels rondrijden in dit landje in zo'n relatief korte periode. Hopelijk wordt de Tesla Model S net zo'n succes.

Electric cars are hot in the Netherlands. Especially in our capital Amsterdam. I think the Fisker Karma and the Opel Ampera / Chevrolet Volt are the most popular among the electric cars - together with the horrible Nissan Leaf. It remains remarkable how many Fiskers in the Netherlands driving around. So many! Hopefully the new Tesla Model S is also a success soon.

З України в Амстердам. Oftewel: van Oekraïne naar Amsterdam, deze Acura MDX. Een Japans merk (van Honda) dat we in Nederland niet heel goed kennen, maar veel populairder is in de Verenigde Staten. Ernaast de 560 pk-sterke M5 F10 sedan.

From Ukraine to Amsterdam, this Acura MDX. A brand that we do not know very well in the Netherlands. It's Japanese. And it's actually from Honda, like Nissan's Infiniti. Acura is much better known in the United States. Next to it there is a powerful M5 from the new F10-series with 560 bhp under the hood.

Een rondje lopen over het parkeerterrein van Outdoor Gelderland (2012) staat gegarandeerd voor enkele bijzondere wagens. Naast deze MKII van de 997 Carrera 4S stonden er ook een SLS AMG, een RS5 en een matzwarte Panamera.

There are always exclusive cars in the car park during the Outdoor Gelderland event. Not only this German Porsche - the MKII version of the 997 Carrera 4S - but also a matte black Panamera, a RS5 and a SLS AMG.

Hippe groene Oost-Duitse Trabant met schattige ronde koplampen die zich liever voordoet als een bus. Sommige onderdelen hangen weliswaar een beetje scheef, maar daar let niemand op. De ultieme stationwagen met genoeg laadruimte voor een Ikea-bezoekje. Hebben!

Cool and very green, this ultimate stationwagon from East-Germany. And he wants to be like a bus. Some parts are a bit loose and crooked, but nobody cares about that. With the enormous space in the back you don't have to worry after you've visit the Ikea. So cool.

Porsche 997 Turbo MKII

Het is nog wachten op de nieuwe Turbo (de 991), maar de MKII (facelift) van de 997 Turbo blijft er goed uitzien. Rechts een Maranello, waarmee deze Duitser een aardige combo vormt.

We are still waiting on the new Turbo (the 991), but the MKII of the 997 Turbo is also still looking good. The Italian supercar, the 550 Maranello, at the right side is a nice addition in this photo.

BMW Alpina B3 BiTurbo Touring

Parkeren, dat kan deze Duitser uit Stuttgart als de beste. Zoveel ruimte en dan nog scheef in het vak en je voorwielen in het gras planten. Qua prestaties zit het bij deze anonieme Alpina B3 Touring wel goed. 355 pk en genoeg ruimte als station om een tripje Stuttgart-Boedapest te maken.

Great parking skills, Alpina-driver! Enough space to park your car and still he planted his front wheels in the grass. The performances are good enough for this Alpina B3 Touring. 355 bhp and enough space as station car to make the trip Stuttgart-Budapest. Not bad.

Porsche Panamera Turbo & Rolls-Royce Ghost

Blijft een mooi gezicht, deze combo in de sneeuw (met een Jaguar XKR voor de Panamera). Kleurtje op de Porsche is ook apart, maar staat hem wel goed en is sowieso beter dan een zwarte uitvoering.

Still a great combo I think: a Panamera, a Ghost and a Jaguar XKR (in front of the Porsche) parked in the snow. I also think this is a nice color for a Panamera. Way better than the eternal black.

Het wemelt van de R8's op en rond de Königsallee, vooral op mooie dagen. Toch blijven ze mooi. En witte lak met zwarte sloffen doen het altijd goed.

There are a lot of Audi R8's on and around the Königsallee, especially on nice (summer) days. On this cloudy day (March last year) I saw only one. But a cool one: white with black rims.
