Aston Martin Cygnet

De Cygnet is - opvallend genoeg - vrij populair in Londen. De allerkleinste Aston Martin ooit: het is echt een raar gezicht als je er naast staat. Dit was de eerste die ik op straat tegenkwam, vijf minuten later zag ik nóg een witte. Gelukkig stond er aan het einde van de straat een gloednieuwe Vanquish V12, en dat maakt een hoop goed.

The Cygnet is quite popular in London city. And that suprised me. But on the other hand, we're still talking about London, a city where you can expect almost everything. The smallest Aston Martin ever: it looks really weird when you standing next to it. This was the first one I saw on the street. Five minutes later I saw already my second one, also in white. Luckily there was a brand new Vanquish V12 at the end of the street, that gave me a real smile on my face.

Afgelopen week niet heel veel tijd gehad om te uploaden. Ook aankomende week zal ik niet heel actief zijn op Flickr, mede door het vele werken en dat ik vrijdag en zaterdag naar Londen ga. Bovenstaande beeldschone GranTurismo is voor de rustige zondagavond. Een Italiaanse schone om van te genieten.

Didn't had much time to upload pictures last week. Also next week I won't be very active on Flickr. Again a busy week, include a little trip to London, next Friday and Saturday. The beautiful GranTurismo on the photo is for the relaxed Sunday evening. An Italian beauty to enjoy.

Police Meeting

Rond de twintig politiewagens verzamelden zich voor het Etnografisch Museum (Néprajzi Múzeum), dat tegenover het Hongaarse Parlementsgebouw (Országház) ligt. Buiten beeld stond nog meer rendőrség, zoals de politie in Hongarije heet. We hadden alleen geen idee waarom, want er gebeurde niks en er kwamen wel steeds meer wagens bij.

Around twenty police cars came together in front of the Ethnographic Museum (Néprajzi Múzeum), opposite the Hungarian Parliament Building (Országház). In the street next to it was even more rendőrség (the Hungarian name for the police). We only don't know why they were all there. Nothing happened, but the number of police cars was increasing.

Slowaakse badass Amerikaan in de Hongaarse hoofdstad. Met een verbouwde grill en een ander logo. Iemand die het logo herkent?

Slovakian badass Camaro cruising through the Hungarian capital. With a remodeled front and a different logo. Somebody who recognizes this?

Vuilniszakgrijze 458 Spider in hartje Boedapest, maar dat kan deze Ferrari opvallend goed hebben. Vooral in combinatie met het rode interieur. In de herfst eet hij ook graag blaadjes, schijnbaar.

Stunning grey 458 Spider in the center of Budapest. And really, it doesn't look boring. Still a supercar with 570 bhp, so you will catch atention anyway. Especially in combination with the red interior. In the autumn he likes to eat leaves, apparently.

Audi RS5

Afgelopen zondag was het weer het tegenovergestelde van wat het nu is. Graadje of 26 en de hele dag strakblauwe lucht aan de rand van Düsseldorf. In Vennhausen werd bij de plaatselijke voetbalclub FC Tannenhof om de 'Tannen~~mof~~hof Cup' gespeeld. Vitesse (onder 16 jaar) eindigde tweede van de twaalf Europese clubs (winst op o.a. Lokomotiv Moskou en FK Senica). Goed, genoeg over voetbal. Bovenstaande RS5 - die nu wel een beetje een voetballersauto aan het worden is - stond om de hoek in de warme zon.

Last Sunday was a good day. It was about 26 degrees and we've had blue skies all day in Düsseldorf. In Vennhausen at the local football club FC Tannenhof was held the 'Tannenhof Cup', a tournament for teams under sixteen. Vitesse (from the Dutch city Arnhem) finished second of the twelve European teams (win against Lokomotiv Moscow and FK Senica). Enough about that, because there is a German Audi RS5 in the picture above. Looking a bit like a football car, right?

Crisis. Dus dan een maar een Continental V8. Scheelt je ruim honderdduizend euro met de W12, niemand die het ziet en je houdt nog genoeg geld over voor een Alfa 4C en een verre vakantie die lang genoeg is zodat je het regenseizoen in Nederland (de zomer) niet mee hoeft te maken.

It's crisis. Bentley offers the Continental now also with the new V8 engine. Saves hundred thousand euros from your bank account in contrast with the W12, nobody who sees the difference and you have enough money for a new Alfa 4C. And a holiday to a tropical island of your choise, so you don't have to worry about the rainy season in the Netherlands (what's called 'summer').

Zo van 'Er is geen parkeerplaats meer vrij, dus dan maar op de stoep'. Je moet je vijf meter lange Panamera toch ergens kwijt. De spoiler uitgeklapt laten staan ziet er toch wel iets beter uit overigens.

When there's no parking space left anymore, you can always park on the sidewalk. You have to park somewhere with your five meter long Panamera, right? The extended spoiler looks pretty good by the way.

Op en top Brits design. Niet de jongste meer, maar zag er toch nog erg goed uit. Het vooraanzicht spreekt mij iets meer aan dan de achterkant, al heeft dit toch ook wel iets. Bedenk er alleen een Londens straatbeeld bij en het plaatje is compleet.

Cool British design. Not the youngest Aston anymore, but he still looked very good. Though, I like the front of this DB7 Vantage better than the back. Imagine this British beauty in a street of London and the picture is complete.

De straat waar ons hotel lag (aan de rechterkant zie je nog net de naam staan: City Hotel Mátyás). De ligging was zeer centraal, midden in het centrum. En de straat stond vol met mooie gebouwen.

The street were our hotel was, full of beautiful buildings and a location that was very central. At the right side you can see the name: City Hotel Mátyás. Superb location!

Is dit gaaf? Ja natuurlijk is dit gaaf. Deze brute Britse machine zonder dak is simpelweg fantastisch. Daar valt weinig aan toe te voegen.

Is this cool? Of course it is! This brutal British machine is simply fantastic. More I don't have to say. Or just one more word: Astonishing.

Een heel mooi exemplaar van de DB7 wat mij betreft. Geweldige Britse uitstraling en zag er uit als nieuw, terwijl hij toch al wat jaartjes meegaat. Prachtige Aston!

A very nice DB7 on a sunny day in Amsterdam. Beautiful British appearance and he looked like new. Though, the DB7 is there already many years. Literally a Astonishing Aston Martin!

Bentley Continental GT V8

Laatst de W12 gezien, nu ook de nieuwe Continental met V8. De uiterlijke verschillen lijken minimaal (de uitlaten zijn anders bijvoorbeeld). Het is vooral onderhuids anders. Maar het grootste verschil is toch wel de prijs: de W12 kost ruim honderdduizend euro meer. Een slordige 299.707 euro. Iets wat je niets terugziet aan de buitenkant.

Last I saw the W12, now also the new Continental with a V8. The differences on the outside are minimal, so most changes are under the hood. However, the biggest difference is the price. The W12 is here in the Netherlands more than hundred thousand euros more expensive (€ 299.707,-) than the V8. Something you don't see on the outside

Het is lente en dat is te merken. De exoten komen de garages weer uit en de dakjes gaan open. En omdat het zo'n lekker weer was die dag ben ik ook maar op de fiets naar Amsterdam gegaan. In A'dam-Zuid stond deze fantastische DBS Volante te schitteren, die een leuke Britse combo maakt met de Evoque aan de overkant. Heerlijkheid!

Finally, it's spring! The exotics come out their garages. Roof down and drive, right? And because it was such nice weather, I decided to cycle to Amsterdam. In Amsterdam-South was this fantastic DBS Volante with his roof down. He is also part of the British combo together with the Evoque from England. Magnificent!

Ja, dat zie je goed. Roze. Heel erg roze. Zo roze als een Fiat 500 Rosa, maar dit is geen Fiat. Dit is een Bentley Flying Spur. Opvallen doe je zeker met deze bolide waar Paris Hilton jaloers op zal zijn. Er waren zelfs opmerkelijk veel vrouwen die even snel een foto maakten van de Barbie-mobiel. Ik heb nog steeds pijn aan m'n ogen. Afschuwelijk. Maar zoiets zie je zeker niet dagelijks. Gelukkig maar.

Yes, it's real. Pink. Really pink. Not just a Fiat 500 Rosa, but a pink Bentley Flying Spur! You like it? I don't. But you certainly attracts attention with this Barbie-mobile, especially many woman took a picture. My eyes do still hurt by this terrible color. Incredibly ugly, but you don't see it daily. Fortunately.

Een S5 op RS5-velgen en een immense Mercedes GL ernaast. Ook dit stond bij het trainingscentrum van FC Twente, naast het Fanny Blankers-Koen Stadion. Naar welke Duitser gaat jouw voorkeur?

A S5 with RS5 rims, next to a giant Mercedes GL-Class. Both German. Which one do you prefer? They were parked at the trainings centre of the Dutch club FC Twente.

TVR Chimaera 500

De TVR Chimaera is apart en anders (zie die achterlichten), maar onderschat de kracht niet van deze Britse sportwagen. Onderhuids ligt een V8 met 325 pk verscholen. Daarnaast rij je in een bijzondere en typisch Engelse cabrio, want hoe vaak kom je nou een Chimaera tegen?

The TVR Chimaera is different. Look at those rear lights! But do not underestimate the power of this car, because underneath the hood is a V8 with 325 hp. Beside that, you drive a special en typical Britsh convertible. Because let's be honest, how often do you see a Chimaera?
