In the former China Town at the Rijnhaven the European China Centre will be developed. The ECC will be an international multi-functional centre for business, living and leisure. It provides offices, apartments, a hotel, restaurants, Western and Chinese specialty stores and congress and events facilities.

A new parking lot in the Eendragtspolder, located between Rotterdam, Zevenhuizen and Rottemeren, which is transformed into an area where water storage, nature, recreation and sports are combined. A new major rowing course has been given a prominent place in a water storage area of 300 hectares, giving room for four million m3 of temporarily water storage.

Kubuswoningen, or cube houses, are a set of innovative houses built in Rotterdam and Helmond in The Netherlands, designed by architect Piet Blom and based on the concept of "living as an urban roof": high density housing with sufficient space on the ground level. Blom's basic idea to built on columns, in which case the space under the buildings could remain public, was inspired by Le Corbusier. The structuralist Blom tilted the cube of a conventional house 45 degrees, and rested it upon a hexagon-shaped pylon. His design represents a village within a city, where each house represents a tree, and all the houses together, a forest. Some call it the closest a building ever came to the works of Piet Mondrian.

On 1 december 2012 the Pier of Scheveningen was declared bankrupt and it is for sale now. The last time, in 1991, it was bought for the symbolic amount of one guilder (45 euro cents). Anyone interested? In the meantime, necessary repairs are performed by the municipality of The Hague.
