A view of the Continental on its last day as a single screen theater in November 1995. Construction of a shell around the giant auditorium containing five additional auditoriums and a larger lobby and concession area would begin within days. (#1 of 12 pics)

Another of the Cooper-style multiplexes built by Commonwealth Theaters in the 1980s. Located in Littleton, the building is currently a church.

I saw "The Thing" here in 1982, and the theater was scarier than the film - dark, dank and falling apart. It's also been a church and a warehouse since then.

Showing Martin Scorsese's "The Last Temptation Of Christ" posed some potential community issues in August 1988 - you can see a single protester (near the front of the line) carrying a sign. We were traveling here from Oklahoma City, where not one theater booked the film. So we delayed our return and caught the movie.

Within a few weeks of closing, the remodel had begun - the parking lot was removed, and the first scaffolding went up in January 1996. (3/12)

The nearly finished product in mid-June 1996. Of course, work was unfinished when the new Continental opened on 6/21/96. Since then, another four auditoriums have been added and the legendary Continental name is gone - but the massive big screen room survives. Now called the Regal Stadium 10. (12/12)

The Cooper (also known as the Cooper Cameo and Cooper Twin) in Denver circa 1993. The main auditorium - feauring a hip circular motif and a strip-screen - was initially built for and booked exclusively as a Cinerama house for many years..
