My good friend Olli and I visited a small Island of the north coast of Germany called Rügen. Having spotted some interesting photos right here on flickr we planned our own trip and made the 600 km journey last weekend. A worthy journey and like all our trips it's one we will never forget!

This photo was taken during sunset, the temprature was around -5 and with the wind chill factor as well it was very cold!. We spent about an hour at this location waiting for people to come and go so as to make the jetty free to photograph without all the clutter. I used the B+W ND Filter 64x F-Pro 106 SH 77mm filter to shorten the exposure length so the wait time did not exceed the dark hours. I decided to keep the sun out of the photo due to 2 reasons, 1 lens flare and 2 the composition would have pushed it to far right of the frame (we arrived a little late in the day)

Dual Jetties - Austria

I'm using this photo as a way of informing my flickr friends of our up and coming landscape session, this shot was taken during our last landscape trip back in April of this year...

This Friday (26th November) we have planned a second landscape trip, this time to Rügen a small island of the north east coast of Germany). So if your living near by and have some spare time on your hands then feel free to join us, we have a holiday house booked for 2 night's...

My goal is to improve on both composition and the use of ND filters, purchased my self a B+W ND filter 64x F-Pro 106 SH to keep the B+W 10 stop company :) as well as a Canon 17-40 F/4 L (Sold the last one and felt it's needed in every landscape photographers bag). I've even filled up my Cokin Z filter system with some new grads :)

Rügen, here we come!

Jetty - Hallstätter See

There are a small number of Jetty's dotted around the lake that are used for docking small fishing boats and tourist paddle boats. They make great object's for adding composition to any photo..

For this shot I used a B+W ND Filter 1000x F-Pro 110 SH to gain the extra long exposure to smooth out the water and draw in the reflections.

Pink Hour

From our holiday house in Rugen we got up at 5:30 followed by a 30km drive to a small town called Sassnitz.. We parked the car and made our journey on foot down to the beach, this hour is always a nice one!

Did I ever say how beautiful my daughter was? If not, here's my beautiful daughter Lucy :)

Not sure what the weather is like where you are but here in Germany "Paderborn" the weather was perfect, warmest day of the year so far. People sunbathing every where, makes a change to the crap weather we have had over the past 5 months!

Today we headed out to a small village that has the greatest of play parks and the kids just loved it, this shot of Lucy is inside a trap door on a pirates ship..

It's always nice to catch a sun set and what better way to catch it over 200 second's. I'm really enjoying the B+W 110 ND filter and I'm really looking forward to using it in the Austrian alps at the end of this month..
