happy earth day!!

today is dedicated to the earth. it's a chance for us
all to really appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.
something we are constantly taking for granted.

hopefully you all did something to show you care
for the environment. whether you went all out and
planted a tree, or just recycled your water bottle.

if you didn't.. well don't panic. it's not too late!
you can do something good for the earth on
any ol' day. as a matter of fact, please do xD

you can't really tell from this photo, but i made
a dress out of old magazines. an then sat in a
recycling bin. it's as uncomfortable as it sounds.
it looks awfully short because of how i was sitting.
edit: okay, it was short regardless of how i was posed, :x
the dress before i ruined it

i could hardly breathe or move without
the entire thing falling apart, haha.

p.s.- don't worry, the remains of my dress
are sitting in a recycle bin at this moment.

i spent the last two weeks of my summer,
at a christian camp called spring hill.

this was my third year going, but instead of
doing the normal curriculum, i joined tst.

tst is a chance for teens to serve not only
others, but God. i received 60 hours of
community service by cleaning bathrooms /:

and although that sounds awful, i loved it.
we only had to work half the day. while
the rest was spent doing normal camp stuff.

i blobbed at 5am, tie dyed a shirt, rode
the zipline, went tubing at rose lake, an
sang campfire songs :)

i met some of the most amazing girls and guys,
that helped me grow so much as a person.
i'm so grateful i got the opportunity to meet them!

Up the road from my cottage, lives a cat named
"Meow" and an old lady named Bertha.

Meow has kittens every few months, but
most of them don't survive for very long.

This time, my aunt and I have decided to rescue
the most recent litter. There are six healthy and adorable
kittens, who are just shy of three weeks old.

My aunt will be taking care of them for awhile,
+ preparing them to move into new homes. If we can't
find homes for them soon, we'll send them to no-kill shelters(:

i figured that since i've been gone for such a long time,
i ought to share something.. special to me, with you.

so here's a picture of me without makeup,
in natural lighting, no photoshop whatsoever.

it may seem like no big deal to you. but it is to me.
i hardly ever leave my bedroom without makeup on.

i always preach to people that makeup doesn't make you pretty.
thinking you are beautiful the way you are, is what makes you attractive.
but lately i've had a hard time listening to my own advice.

i'm too self concious, and worrying about my appearance is taking
over my life. i think i owe it to myself, to let go of all my insecurities,
and try not worry about what other people think so much.

the weather today.. was absolutely beautiful.
i spent four straight hours outside, barefoot :)
an i even made a headband out of flowers, ha.

this summer time heat, and sunshine makes me
feel like a completely different person. i love it.
