Spent a couple of days visiting my sister earlier this week. She has the largest potted geranium plant that I have ever seen sitting just in front of this window and view. It was HOT and HUMID even in early morning showing a hazy mountain in the distance - a relatively new view - the tornado of June 1, 2011 destroyed virtually all of the trees behind her home. It has been a long recovery, but life has returned to a semblance of normal, though evidence of the terrible destructive force of nature is visible all around and will be for decades to come.

My heart goes out to the people of Oklahoma, who are experiencing such destruction in their communities right now.

Shot this photo of what looks like a Yucca plant in my sister's yard yesterday - I didn't think these desert plants would grow in New England but that's certainly what it looked like! Does any one know???

Made a short stop today to grab a few pics at Longfellow's Wayside Inn in Sudbury Massachusetts where they were having a sheep shearing and wool spinning demonstration on the front lawn.
The participants included a group of ladies from a local spinners guild who were all demonstrating their craft. This lady was using a small wheel to spin short remnants of old yarns into new skeins so they could be used for needlecraft projects.

This woman was spinning some wool into yarn on a large spinning wheel - you can see it to her left. I wish I had gotten a better angle here as it was a really beautiful and large spinner. The smoke in the background is from wood fires heating the kettles of dyes to color the spun yarns
