December 31 2008 - Chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel, Zeev Bielski, visits staff and new immigrants at the Calanit Absorption Center in Ashkelon. Just before the war broke out, Calanit was home to approximately 60 young adults who have come to Israel from South and North America, FSU, Ethiopia and elsewhere. the Jewish Agency is mobilizing to respond to the needs of these new immgirants with a range of intervention and support programs. The Jewish Agency mobilized with Israeli partners Electra and Amdocs to supply computers to Calanit Absorption Center and allow children to participate in distance learning programs instead. Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Zeev Bielski, personally delivers the computers.
