This is my favourite part of the day -- from about an hour before sunrise to a couple hours after it has arisen. There is something special about the solitude, the birdsong that speaks to me and brings quite to my heart. When the air is laden with moisture there is a special quality to the light that no other time of day can match. I am at peace.

I hope you can enjoy this too, my friends.

I had just moments to jump out of the car and catch this magical light before it changed. At nearly 8 in the evening the light changes fast. The plants were positively glowing and the sky was a treat to be savoured though it had to be done in a big gulp. Moments later the clouds had completely obscured the setting sun...

Sarah and Jinu and I went for a walk by the lake last week, and this is one of the memories we came back with. It was overcast when we left the house, but cleared up beautifully in just a few minutes. I just have another week with my dear daughter and grandson before they head back to the other side of the family and work in Korea, so I'm trying to make the most of it...

A 'sny' in local parlance is an oxbow pond or lake that is created when a river changes course due to flooding and/or erosion. There are 4 snys on my property, named South Sny, Little Sny, Big Sny and of course, North Sny. (Creative naming eh? LOL).

A significant chunk of my property has been deemed a "Provincially Significant Area of Natural and Scientific Interest, Life Science - ALS" by the Province of Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. In order to encourage "long term private stewardship of provincially significant natural heritage lands," with my agreement to protect that natural heritage value, I will be granted a 100% exemption of property tax on the eligible portion. How great is that?! I've already been doing that, so this is like a reward for good behaviour!
