Rare Waterfalls on Ayers Rock/Uluru.

Ayers Rock sits like a beacon in the centre of the driest country on earth. It hardly ever rains here and if it does it is usually at night.

This is the biggest selling photograph in Australian History. Captured in February 2000 it first appeared on the front page of "The Australian" the National daily newspaper. It was then subsequently published in colour twice more on the front page due to the demand created by Australians. News Ltd then syndicated the image worldwide where it was published in nearly every westernised country on the planet.

This photograph has only ever been sold as a genuine silver halide print. Tens of thousands of prints have been sold worldwide. The largest is one measuring 2 metres x 3 metres which hangs in Lachlan Murdochs New York apartment. Murdoch is the former Deputy CEO of News Corporation.

Despite what one may think this image has not been filtered or photoshopped!!

All the light is nature at work. The Fillipino volcano Mt Pinatubo in June 1991 produced the second largest terrestrial eruption of the 20th century. The resultant ash clouded the southern skies for more than a year. After sunset the whole of central Australia would glow Martian-like for at least an hour.

This is a time exposure of at least 2 minutes.
