Momma bird tempted fate: She built her nest in the lowest crook of my backyard tree, about 6 feet off the ground. Lucky little birdies because my bird-on-the-brain lab/pointer mix (gee, think she likes to chase birds?) can only stretch to 5 feet….
I think they're little Orioles (3 little guys in the nest.)

Added 5/15: The nest is empty now...and the dog was nowhere around when momma evidently pushed them out of the nest.

The aforementioned puppy, now 17 weeks and 24 lbs and quite the handful. Half pointer (not beagle), half lab.
Named after Penny on Big Bang Theory (because she's a cute girl who's not the brightest!)
(This was a test of my big zoom lens on the E-PL2 body via an adapter. Worked well!)

I bought a new compact camera (an Olympus E-PL2) which I got for a steal. It's so tiny (yet powerful) that I can carry it with me all the time since I never have "the big rig" when I want it. Plus, this can do things the other can't, like doing a 7 shot brackets (at 2/3 stop intervals) as this is.
This was seen on my way back from dropping the puppy off at doggy day care.

We made sure, as good Nationals fans, to to get there right when the gates opened so we could see our phenom pitch his first big league (well, low "A" ball) game after Tommy John surgery. He did great, but our Suns lost (though we did beat the pernicious Grasshoppers in the next game of the doubleheader with a walk-off).
In this shot, I just love how his jersey has that sense of motion. News reports had his fastball at 96-98mph today.
