2013 Student Marshal Chris Norman '13

Major: Geography

Norman traveled abroad with the geography department’s Foreign Study Program in Prague, Czech Republic, in spring 2012. During his off-terms, Norman returned to San Francisco, working first as a park ranger for local national park, then as a coordinator for a city government high school program. At Dartmouth he served as an undergraduate advisor for three years, as the President of La Alianza Latina, and was a trip leader for the Tucker Foundation’s “Faith in Action” Alternative Spring Break program. Next year, Norman will participate in City Hall Fellows, a yearlong fellowship program with the local government of San Francisco.

2013 Student Marshal Marshall Ward, Geisel '13

Ward came to Dartmouth after earning his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University, where he received a BA in history and international relations. He has worked as a high school chemistry teacher, a paralegal, and a researcher. After graduation, Ward plans to begin an internal medicine residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Major: Master's in Public Health at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice

Karwar worked on a variety of issues while pursuing her Master's in Public Health at Dartmouth, including projects related to maternal and child health and quality improvement efforts in medical clinics. Her internship involved public health work in Rwanda. She received her BA from Rutgers before coming to Dartmouth. After graduation, she plans to pursue public health program management with international NGOs.

2013 Student Marshal Sharang Biswas '12, Thayer '13

Degree: Bachelor of Engineering, Thayer School of Engineering

Biswas spent time in Toulouse, France, with a French Language Study Abroad Plus, and also went to Hamburg, Germany, on an engineering exchange with Helmut-Schmidt University. He worked as a game design intern at Dartmouth’s Tiltfactor Laboratory and as a teaching assistant for the Rassias Foundation’s Accelerated Language Program in French. Biswas was awarded a first-year summer research grant to study pottery exchange in early Mexico, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Superfund Research fellowship to study toxic metal chemistry. Later research projects included the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellowship. After graduation, Biswas plans to work in the areas of art, design, and technology.

2013 Student Marshal Vaidehi Mujumdar '13

Major: Biology and anthropology modified with ethics

Mujumdar has served as the Clinical Health Officer through the William Jewett Tucker Foundation’s Nicaragua Cross Cultural Education and Service Program; as a delegate to Palaeopitus Senior Society; and as a Dartmouth Fellow for the Akili Initiative. She has worked to make her education international by volunteering and studying in Ecuador, Nicaragua, and India. Her honors thesis in anthropology focused on the effects of multilingualism on perceptions of health and illness in Mumbai. After graduating from Dartmouth, Mujumdar will be a Dartmouth Partners in Community Service postgraduate fellow working at HealthCare Chaplaincy in New York City with plans to apply for medical school.

2013 Student Marshal Duncan Hall '13

Hall is president of the 2013 Senior Executive Committee and will serve in this role for the next five years. He is a member of Palaeopitus Senior Society. He has worked alongside Professor of Sociology Denise Anthony to conduct research on social norms and organizational policy. He also worked with E.B. Osborn Professor of Marketing at the Tuck School of Business Kevin Lane Keller on brand management research. Next year, Hall plans to pursue a career in advertising/account planning or brand management.

2013 Student Marshal Max Pinto, Tuck '13

After graduating from Williams College with a degree in economics, Pinto began a career in management consulting, working for the Parthenon Group. After finishing Parthenon’s Associate Program, he headed to Tuck to refine his management skills and become part of a community that focuses on team achievement and individual growth. At Tuck, he was president of the Tuck Student Board and co-director of Dartmouth’s Greener Ventures Entrepreneurship Conference. After graduation, Pinto will return to the Parthenon Group.

2013 Student Marshal Dan Durcan, MALS '13

Durcan graduated from the University of Hull. At Dartmouth, he did research on the U.K. Parliament and on the Arab Spring movement, focusing on collective action in Tunisia and Egypt. Durcan also worked as the graduate activities coordinator and as a teaching assistant for the Institute for Writing and Rhetoric. After graduation, Durcan will return to England to pursue a career in education or communication.

2013 Student Marshal Reilly Bertasi '13

Though originally from New England, Bertasi grew up in London. She was a coxswain on the men’s varsity heavyweight rowing team for all four years; a delegate to the Palaeopitus Senior Society; and vice president of 2013 Class Council. Bertasi was a presidential scholar in the neurobiology laboratory at the Geisel School of Medicine. She spent her junior winter term teaching English in the Marshall Islands. After graduation, Bertasi will work for EF Education First, an international education company, in Boston and in Zurich, Switzerland, in their 360 Global Management Program.

2013 Student Marshal Garrett Wymore '13

Major: Economics and neuroscience

Wymore was linebacker for the Dartmouth football team for four years. He was also a study group leader and “resident expert” for the economics department. He studied in Barcelona through the Academy of Liberal and Beaux-Arts program. In the summer and fall, Wymore will coach his high school’s football team while working at Bain & Company in San Francisco.
