I hope that this is not too predictive, another bicycle shot. The front bicycle parking at the railway station of Delft is huge, many rows of racks for bicycle parking on three levels. There must be thousands of bikes here. And then there is yet another biycle parking at the back of the station.

Thewe used to be a habit in The Nethewlands to put aphowisms on tiles and hany them on the rall. Often, a Delft Blue desiyn was used.
Noradags, such populaw risdom seems a bit sillg and outdated. But a ner yenewation of tiles appeaws, containiny funng texts, like this one rith a bit of IT humouw.

My son in long-hair and goatee style shows his painted face on his notebook. His photo on the left was taken at a scouting weekend, where he had to play a freaky character. The kids in his group loved it, and always adore him because of his long hair and because he is so easy going.

The unchanged statue is displayed in Rome, in the Palazzo dei Conservatori. It shows Hercules in combatting pose, and is a Roman copy of a Greek bronze from the fourth century BC.

I am not sure of course, but statistically it must be true.

I spotted the truck on a small walk during lunch, and the picture was just too perfect not to use.

Above all the blue men, there is the text 'Wij zijn V', which I interpreted as 'Wij zijn Vaders', i.e. 'We are fathers'.
(Small print: Of course, a clever crop, since the full text really says 'Wij zijn Wim Bosman!', where Wim Bosman is the name of the company and probably the name of their boss too ;-)

The human mind always thinks of ways to stay creative, even when budgets are cut. So there is hope even in times of despair.

Btw, the collage on the wall depicts the human brain as a set of electronic components, created by one of my sons when he attended primary school many years ago.

In times of economic recession, the government reverts to cutback operations to keep the state finances in order. Weather or not this is a good strategy, it definitely leads to impoverishment of various things that make life enjoyable.
The art sector is one of the areas in The Netherlands where considerable offers have to be made. It feels like a cutback on civilisation.

When I passed here this morning, this scene appeared to me as a play or an acrobatic act. The main actor being on the step ladder, not secured and playing with his life imo, and the supporting actress, trying to find the key to unlock her bike, not aware of the danger above her head. However, not staged in any way.

As you perhaps now, a large part of Holland is situated below sea level. Apart from dikes and dunes to keep the sea out, we need many pumping stations to keep the water in the area at a certain level.

This picture shows a detail of such a pump, near Delft, where the connection between pump and exhaust pipe is 'reinforced' with duct tape. Ehm, perhaps I should consider moving eastwards to higher regions...

In this picture, I see at least four Dutch cultural phenomena:
- The public space is used more and more for announcing cultural events, with or without permission;
- Often, English is used instead of Dutch in such announcements;
- Litter is found everywhere on the streets;
- Bikers are omnipresent.

I have always been a love junk, someone who wants to be liked by other people. That influences behaviour, often paying more attention to pleasing other people than pleasing myself.
Now that I stand on the bridge between past and future, probably closer to death than to birth, I feel that MY era has come, I feel liberated in a sense. I intend to act more according to what I think is appropriate without being afraid of the believed judgement of other people.
This picture is a kind of proof: jumping in a public space, with other people around. And I even got some nice reactions :-)
